Starting with the big news of the week, it appears that Colorado remains the favorite to land Mater Dei (CA) linebacker Fa'avae Fa'avae. This defensive playmaker holds fourteen offers but made it clear that the Buffs are among his top schools. Will he be the next commit? With a few weeks before a planned visit that will come either at the end of July or early August, it is hard to say simply due to the strong recruiting momentum within this class. Getting Fa'avae on campus for the recruiting BBQ that is planned to be held on July 24th would be crucial to adding a talented player with double digits offer to the stable of 2017 commitments.

Staying on the defensive side of things, as mentioned on Thursday evening, George Ranch (TX) defensive end Toby Ndukwe may be committed to SMU but that is not stopping Colorado and Kansas State from trying to change his mind. The major advantage that the staff has on their side with Ndukwe is his teammate and CU commit Alex Fontenot will be doing all he can to sell the college and Boulder. Ndukwe will be a name to potentially follow until he completely shuts down recruiting.

Speaking of Fontenot, Oklahoma State and Purdue both were among the final three for his services before he committed to Colorado in early June. He mentioned that each school still remains interested in his services and are still recruiting him. At this point, Fontenot remains strong with his commitment to the Buffs and doesn't plan to take any other trips. It is "just Colorado for right now." Fontenot plans to be in Boulder for the BBQ later this month.

South Sumter (FL) defensive end Carson Wells hit the camp trail hard this summer and that included seeing schools like Colorado, Air Force, Florida, North Carolina State, Louisville, Western Kentucky, Mercer, Samford, and a few different satellite camps as well. He currently holds an offer from the Buffs and mentioned them as one of the programs that have been recruiting him the hardest. Wells has narrowed down the recruiting process as of late to Colorado, Tulane, Air Force, and Florida. The Gators have not offered but he plans to camp there soon and it remains his dream school. Wells plans to sit down with his family in the next couple of weeks and weigh all the schools to end the process before his high school season begins.

Moorpark College (CA) defensive back Jalin Burrell had a number of Division I programs hoping to evaluate him this fall but when Colorado offered, it said a lot about the faith that their staff had in him. Coach MacIntyre had a pivotal role in his recruiting and told him he could take the offer immediately or wait it out. That no pressure recruiting led to him committing two days later. Oregon State Cal, TCU, Arkansas State, Ohio, Louisiana Lafayette, and BYU were some of the other programs who were going to be watching him this fall.

Langston Hughes (GA) linebacker Malik Horton mentioned that Wake Forest, Colorado, Tulane, Maryland, and Toledo were among the big schools that have offered and are being considered at this point in recruiting. Horton is another recruit who has plans to visit for the BBQ on July 24th. He mentioned that he plans on waiting to decide until September or October. Maryland and Colorado were named as his favorites at this point in the recruiting process.

Adding linemen is a must in this class and one prep who is on the radar is Hamilton (AZ) offensive lineman Tyler Stevens. He received an early offer from the coaches at Northern Arizona and was able to perform in front of the Colorado coaches during their satellite camp at Phoenix College. Stevens has been hearing from Coach Bernardi and was told the evaluation process will continue into the fall.
