QB addition

Colorado added another quarterback for the upcoming season today. Junior college transfer Gavin Kuld announced his plans to join the Buffs adding some more size to the room. He checks in at 6-foot-6 and 228 pounds. At this point he is expected to join the team as a PWO after playing at three different junior colleges in his career. He has three years to play two with the Buffs. There is not a ton of information out there on him and he's not listed on any rosters, but he last played at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 2022. He also played at junior colleges in California and Texas already.

He was credited with playing in 8 games last season going 18 for 24 on pass attempts for 72 yards passing. He had 4 interceptions and 0 touchdowns according to the stats available through his school.

Kuld is originally from North Carolina and was a member of the 2021 high school class.

WATCH: Danny O'Neil at the Elite 11 Finals

We were out in Los Angeles last week to watch Danny O'Neil throw in the prestigious Elite 11 Finals quarterback event. Here are clips from all three days of action for the Colorado commit who was a bit under the weather leading into his time in LA.

Could This Be the Pac-12’s Long-Term Plan?

Interesting point from the article:

Phase 2: Reclaim LA

Phase 2 is going to take a while before we can see it come to fruition, but when the B1G media rights expire in 2030 it is vital for the long-term survival of the Pac that the conference is able to get back into LA. The primary target will be UCLA as it is already becoming abundantly clear that both LA schools are going to have to travel a lot in the coming years. UCLA’s athletics are already struggling financially and that much travel, even with more money, isn’t going to be easy — especially as they will have to pay Cal some of that money in order to help support Cal’s athletics.

UCLA may find it easier and cheaper to rejoin the Pac come 2030. This will be even more likely if UCLA doesn’t see any real on-field success in the B1G. For UCLA, they could see a lot more stress put on their players and they might not necessarily net any more money. Keep in mind that it’s not just UCLA football that is traveling more, but all their sports. Whether the extra money from the B1G will cover the costs and allow for UCLA to comfortably profit is yet to bee seen.

June OVs

As of now, the plan is to not have any official visitors on campus again this weekend. Most programs have loaded up on June official visits, but the CU staff has been pretty pointed in who it's brought in this month. The staff put in a lot of work over the spring when other programs were a little slower to act so it balances out, but it seems as though the Buffs are content to have visitors out during the season rather than pushing for the late-spring/early summer official visits.

I have already mentioned that Kylan Fox moved his trip from this month to September, so I do think you'll see some more follow that path to get a taste of the game-day environment in Boulder this year. A lot of coaches have started to trend away from game day visits to allow them to fully focus on the team/take attention away from recruits, but the atmosphere this fall in Boulder should be one that excites recruits. So, I don't think it's all that bad of a strategy.

Obviously, also transfers have been and will be a big part of the rebuilding process.

Also, with the news Nikki just posted about, it makes sense there won't be a push to have official visitors on campus with Deion Sanders on the mend after surgery this week.

The NCAA Baseball Tourney

I hate to bring this up as it will start the CU/Baseball talk, but the one thing ESPN+ does well is their squeeze play channel, basically redzone for the sub-regionals. Baseball lends itself for that, I had it on all day yesterday, mostly on mute as I hate the bat sound. Also as of this moment of the 16 sub-regionals:

Clemson is out of the regional it hosted

Oklahoma State is out of the regional it hosted

Auburn is out of the regional it hosted

Six of the others host have one loss in the double elimination tourney.

How should we group Colorado's incoming transfers?

I published this story last week, but things got crazy at home and I completely neglected to post it here.

With 50 new transfers, it can be a little hard to make sense of who CU got, especially given the different backgrounds of the new additions. So I grouped them into five categories:

Proven commodities
Productive, but at a much smaller level
Career back-ups
High ceilings
Question marks

Some players were tricky to group as they fell between two tiers, so keep that in mind before you yell at me (I kid, I kid)

2024 WR Zycarl Lewis Jr commits to CU

Another huge get from the Buffs BIG recruiting weekend. Lewis had offers from 34 other programs. Georgia, Florida State, Tennessee were some other programs on that list.

Here's just a glimpse of what he's able to produce, but Coach Prime and his staff certainly look like they have a lock on those Florida guys.

Tad Boyle shares his thoughts on the Buffs' rebuilt basketball roster

Colorado’s 2023-24 men's basketball roster saw a lot of change this offseason, but the Buffs’ lineup still possesses quality pieces.

My way too early analysis and prediction of the Buffs lineup plus Boyle’s thoughts ⬇️

Jack Jones Arrested on Weapons Charges

This former Long Beach Poly/USC commit was always known as a full-on thug, yet, curiously earned a scholarship to USC. His sophomore season he was kicked out of SC for robbing a fast food restaurant at 3:00 in the morning. But was able to attend ASU a year or so later. The dude is 5'9" but must be a complete terror to anyone that has to deal with him.
