Maxprep has the 2023 Colorado HS football schedule up

Good afternoon all. Maxprep has the 2023 HS football schedule up. I found a couple of mistakes already or things that need to be verified, but it is a start.

For example Maxpreps has the Cherry Creek at Regis on a Friday night, so does the Regis website, but Creek site has in on a Thursday. I saw one time for a game listed at 11:00 PM on a Saturday for one school, they had to mean 11:00 AM. They showed Creek playing ThunderRidge on Nov 18th, unless they are projecting the playoffs that is not happening. Neither school has the other even scheduled.

I am going to do my double check the best I can like last year and post the schedule for each week like last year. I had a few people say it was helpful.

Right now I am personally going to attend a game on Thursday, August 24 at one of the three stadiums Jeffco uses, the Northglenn at Adams City Game (proud grad from ACHS) on the 25, Thursday, August 31 again at one of the three stadiums Jeffco uses and finally the Kennedy at Roosevelt game Friday Sept 1. The reason for the last one is I did design work for the new Roosevelt HS, I hope other members on the design team will join me and they are the defending 3A champs. I might catch a couple more Friday games before it gets cold and if there are not good college games on TV that night. 2020 was the only year in the past I say 20 that I have not attended one HS game.

OT: FYI - why the NFL does not play on Fri/Sat until Dec.

It all goes back to the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961. The law was made in response to Congress disallowing the NFL from negotiating TV rights because the government felt the league was violating antitrust laws. The U.S. government didn't like that the NFL was trying to sell TV rights deals en masse to CBS, where the teams would share rights equally.

The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 dictates that broadcasting rights of pro sports leagues are exempt from antitrust decisions — but it also contains language that says the NFL cannot broadcast games on Fridays and Saturdays when there are High School or College games within 75 miles. NFL games are blacked out locally on Fridays and Saturdays, thus essentially prohibiting the play (and broadcasting) of the games.

That means Saturdays, which is when college football games are played, is a no-go for the NFL until the college season wraps up. The same can be said on Fridays and the high-school season.

With the college season ending in November, that opens the door for the NFL to play games on Saturdays, like this upcoming weekend.

In short: The NFL can't play games on Fridays and Saturdays because of high school and college football.

Northwestern University football scandal

Northwestern HC Pat Fitzgerald has been suspended 2 weeks however he will be fired by Monday no doubt. Bombshell report on his program that has been lauded as a perfect model for student-athletes.

* In a once-a-year tradition dubbed “the carwash,” the first player said that some players would stand naked at the entrance to the showers and spin around, forcing those entering the showers to “basically (rub) up against a bare-naked man.” Upon entering the showers, the player alleged that players set up a hose they connected to the shower to spray people.

“It’s extremely painful,” the player said.

Pathetic!

I woke to early on vacation here in the Philippines, so I decided to look at how many tickets, and what the prices are like on the secondary market for the N home opener. There’s thousands of tickets from 180-2,200 in price. CU wants to play big time college football this kind of shit can’t continue to happen! I understand most of us could sell this game, and pay for the entire season worth of tickets and more, but if it’s 30% red on Sept. 9 that’s just pathetic!

OL / DL on the Roster

I just scanned the current roster and not a surprise to most on this board, we have 12 OL (2 freshmen) and 5 (yes 5) DL. Its not surprising that our worst 2 positions for many of the most recent years also have the fewest numbers as most the prior guys are gone and talent on the DL is hard to find. None of the OLB seem to have the size required for a DE role but im not close enough to the roster or familiar enough with the players to know. Obviously those numbers have to change prior to fall camp right? You cant even run a 2 deep with those numbers on the DL and the OL is 3 injuries away from not having a 2-deep not to mention a scout team? We could get 3 OL guys dinged up in the first week.

Does anyone have inside intel on the plan for this? Can one of the moderators ask a coach about this lack of depth and how they intend to address it? Does anyone know if the transfer portal is still open and for how long

How did other coaches who made the FCS-to-Power-Five leap fare?

Prior to Deion Sanders' hiring at Colorado, nine other head coaches over the past 30 years went directly from the FCS to the Power Five. How those other coaches did making that transition is potentially instructive when looking at how Sanders might do in Boulder
