The playoff has just made this better

Bama takes a second loss but is by no means out. When have you ever been able to say that ? The product is so good right now in all the leagues. Especially the P2 and B12.
We may not be a dominate conference or likely be able to hang in the playoff but it’s fun and interesting football. If we were in the P2 we would just take a weekly pummeling for the admin and a few key AD folks to make more. Now, while unlikely, we can dream of a chance at a confercne championship game appearance
I’m loving college football with the playoff. Thought I wouldn’t. Boy was I wrong

Great slate this weekend

There are a ton of good games this weekend.

UL vs Miami and Nebraska vs Indiana kick it off. Seems every confercne has some intriguing matchups beyond just the big games we all know are happening in Austin and Knoxville.

What’s everyone looking forward to watching besides CU.
Nebraska
ASU
KSU
UT
Bama
LSU
Utah

All have games I look forward to. Trying to catch a little here and there of each. The playoff makes the regular season so much better now with how big the leagues are and the fact 2 losses doesn’t keep you out (except overrated ND which if they played anyone would have two losses and be out - please baby Jesus ).

Did the game break the board? Game breakdown?

Been a long time since I’ve seen this little discussion after the game. I know guys are upset with it but I’d say we conducted ourselves well against a good team.

Deficiencies we had, some we knew going in, and they showed themselves:

1. OL just is not strong enough or talented enough to run block against good teams
2. The RB are decent but no one is a great RB who can jumpstart things on their own
3. Out DL just isn’t a very effective unit for all the accolades some have tried to heap on them.
4. Our kicking game - while better - still needs work
5. SS just has no situational awareness at all
6. Shilo sanders is massively overrated
7. We can’t manage the clock. Players and coaches (time out management )

The good I saw last night (some of which we knew):

1. SS is one of the toughest gamers I’ve seen. He almost willed us to a win by himself even though his play also hurt us. The guy has a lot of deficiencies that will hinder him st the next level but I thought his grit and play are the only reason we had a shot. It was a worthy performance overall even if criticism is due.
2. Our coaches adjusted. They called good plays and put guys where they needed to be on both sides of the ball. We just were not talented enough to execute. That is a problem you solve over time with recruiting and development. The game itself though was called well
3. We saw just how deep our skill positions are. Next man up was an understatement and there was no drop off. We are LOADED at WR.
4. Just going to say it again. This was a well coached game by both coordinators. I was really encouraged by the. They did the most they could with what we have

We are still a game above where I thought we’d be when we started and I picked UA as an upset special preseason. After last night I think we match up fairly well for a high scoring game. It’s a tough one but I can see us winning it. When I look at the schedule I still see 7 wins and maybe an 8th. We got absolutely bullied again by a good team for 2.5 quarters and we never gave up. We will beat the teams we are supposed to beat and probably pick one off who is better.

Tough loss but not unexpected at all going in. We played close game which most thought we would and might have won in spite of being outplayed most of the game. I take last night as a building block and think it might actually propel us to even more wins than I currently see.

I’m excited for the rest of the games - as long as they aren’t at 8:20 😂😂

Time for CBWRTH & QBSS to step up

CBWRTH and QBSS have the ability to carry any College team, they need to step up.

THe number one thing QBSS needs to do, is to take control of his sacks and reduce the pressure on a marginal and still developing OL. He needs to default to a 3 second timeframe to get rid of the ball on every passing snap. He can do this easily, and 1 of his stable of outstanding WRs, on a hot route will get open for some kind of gain, 95% of the time. Throwing the ball aggressively all game against a good defense focused on pressuring him and flushing him from the pocket (i.e. KSU), he completed 85% of his passes for 9.7 yds/pass. Yikes! THis offense is unstoppable if QBSS and OCPS can show the patience required to stay on schedule and elinimate sacks. Pass plays should default to 3 seconds and hitting the hot receiver or an RB out of the backfield. If QBSS drops back and senses a solid pocket andno pressure, then he can wait for a deeper route, but otherwise GET RID OF THE BALL, get 4-6 yds and move the chains. Dont get flushed.THis will soften the pass rush, probably allow a more effective running game, show incredible maturity/intelligence, and improve his Heisman and draft prospects. Everyone knows QBSS has arm talent and can complete passes at every level, so now the time is to win games and carry the team.

THe number one things cbwrth can do in order to carry the team is to stay healthy. Everyone knows he is a top 5 draft pick as either a WR or a CB. Since he's needed more on D than O, he needs to reduce his O snaps to improve his probablity of staying healthy. CBTH can carry the defense and we need him to lock down 1/2 the field so the other 10 guys can do their thing. Offensive snaps are bonus snaps for the team.I know he needs to get some O snaps to keep his own Heisman prospects increasing but team first, right. Stay healthy, get the W and move on.

Both these guys cant afford many more losses or they will both be out of the Heisman race so they should both focus on maximizing the Wins. We all wouldnt mind that either. Every snap with QBSS running around to save his life and then chucking the ball out of bounds or with CBWRTH on the sidelines without his helmet, our chances at a W precipitously drop.

Official Game Thread: No. 18 Kansas State at Colorado

Biggest game of the year to date! Buffs can cement themselves as a favorite in the Big 12 tonight with a win against a very good Kansas State team. CU can improve to 3-0 in conference play and would join BYU, Texas Tech and the Iowa State-WVU winner as the only undefeated teams in Big 12 play.

Kahlil Benson is dressed tonight after missing the UCF game. Shilo Sanders also in uniform after missing the last three games with that broken forearm. Damon Hayes is still out due to injury, will be his second straight game missed.
