Cincy @ KU

Tied 35 at the half.
Cincy is a bit over matched and I suspect KU will pull away but KU aren't as talented as in years past. Good team for sure though.
I saw this kid last week. KU has a kid named Johnny Furphy, a 6'9" beanpole from Austrailia who had like one scholarship offer from" Univeristy of I-Can't-Remember" I guess he was headed home when Bill Self called him and said I need you right now so get down here. He is now a starter and playing pretty well for the Jayhawks.
Kid is a real good three point shooter.
And, Cincy's HC Wes Miller is another good young up-and-coming coach. Walk-on at Carolina for Roy Williams and was on the 2005 NC Team. Coached 10 years at UNC, Greensboro. I think Tad makes at least twice what this guy makes.
Like I always say, there are players and coaches out there. You just have to do your diligince and some digging.

Official Game Thread: Colorado WBB vs USC

Buffs WBB back in action today trying to rebound from Friday's loss to UCLA. USC is coming off of a 20-point loss at Utah and had to travel, so a good chance for the Buffs to pick up another quality win here at home. Sara-Rose Smith is still out with that mild concussion, everyone else ready to go for the Buffs.

Starters for Colorado as usual:
Jaylyn Sherrod
Maddie Nolan
Frida Formann
Quay Miller
Aaronette Vonleh

For USC:
Taylor Bigby
JuJu Watkins (26.5 PPG, 2nd in NCAA)
McKenzie Forbes
Kayla Padilla
Rayah Marshall

Buckle up boys and girls could be a fun spring

One thing ive noticed since p-12 play has started is HCTB may actually prove that an old dog can learn new tricks. Initially because of injuries and hopefully now due to results, he has greatly shortened the bench. This has driven me crazy for years, the constant line-change metality that built nothing but mediocrity. I may be reading too much into it but its shaking out that the top 6 or 7 guys are getting PT and that is fantastic! When the top 7 are a healthy disilva, simpson, williams, lambkin, obrien, hadley and either hammond or ruffin we will have something. When we start dipping deeper we struggle because the rest of the guys need time to develop or simply dont have what it takes. That top 8 though can play with anybody as they will show when AZ comes to town (if all are healthy). Not sure if i want Hammond or Ruffin to be #7 but hopefully 1 of the two can take the 7th spot with authority in the next few weeks while the other assumes a seat on the bench.

HCTB has always been a play 9 or 10 guys type of coach which IMO kills any chance for chemistry and rythm to get developed. TO boot, we have at least 3 NBA guys in that group and there are only a few teams in America that can say that. I think HCTB knows his time is now, And finally he's throwing the chips to the middle of the table. Let the top 7 guys play, get Disilva fully healthy and please keep the rest of the group healthy and lets see what developes. THis team has a chance to do something so the time for being a players coach is not now.

NIce to see the WBB tteam stepping up too. THe UCLA game was disappointing, and exposed some real rebounding issues and maybe a player or two short to make real noise but you have to love the heart and fearlessness of that team. Gotta Love what HCJRP has done and they can certianly make noise at the ladies dance from the sheer effort they put forth every night.

Also, dont sleep on the ski team. The momentum is building and the team has all the parts needed for a skiing Natty championship in MArch on their home snow in Steamboat. Need to stay healthy and get the international members back to the USofA and we can and should re-establish ski dominance in Boulder.

Fun article on CFB 2024 changes

Phillips asked if 40 bowl games can survive “probably not. We need to watch that …. It could damage CFB”. The pundits have said this for several years. There are going to be less bowls each year for a few years. Where do we end up? When does it start?

Caparelli who makes his living off bowls “history says it’s the right number”. I’m going to bet Phillips and Sankey win this one

More public acknowledgement that TP and early recruiting are going to get tweaked and moved.

The rest is just a fun read but those two are notable as once again the powers that he are sending signals.

Baylor at Texas

On ESPN right now. Man, listening to Scott Drew in the huddle is pretty cool. This guy is as good as a coach as there is out there. The players were locked-in when he was talking to them. UT is taking to them a bit early up 31-25 with about 10m to go in the first half. Texas has some dam good talent too. Also, the Moody Center in Austin is an amazing facility I and hope to catch a game or concert there asap. Any of you Austin guys been seen this place?

Not that shocking

I'm not shocked, but that does help me realize why we didn't get some of these big names in the portal. Many of them hit the portal to go to a specific team. Jayden Proctor hit the portal to go to Iowa. Was never going anywhere else. Lance Heard hit the portal to go to Tennessee. He was never going anywhere else. Cayden Green hit the portal to go to Missouri. He was never going anywhere else. I think the Washington players hit the portal to follow DeBoer to Alabama.

I think we got who we could get. I think we did well to get who we got without tampering (which apparently isn't really a rule).
