Over the past several months, I've shared my journey and experiences with you in our conversations. We've discussed the highs and lows, the triumphs and tribulations that life has thrown my way. My GoFundMe campaign helps me navigate through the challenges I am facing. This campaign is more than just a plea for financial assistance; it's a call for solidarity and a chance for our community to come together and make a meaningful difference.
This has been a very stressful holiday season! I was notified just before Christmas that my immunotherapy drug, Keytruda, was no longer covered by a grant. This drug has been keeping me alive for several years. It is the only drug that has worked for me. It costs $55,000 a dose. Although Medicare will pay for the majority of the cost, I will be responsible for the copay, limited to $3,600 a year. This is called the “Donut Hole.” This cost will be added to an existing 24 month $4,000 medical payment plan. My monthly income is limited to my own and my wife’s social security (approximately $4,100 per month) to cover all our living expenses.
