The Buffs continue to target prospects currently committed to other programs as they work toward finishing up the 2025 class ahead of the early signing period. Today, the newest offer for CU went out to another IMG Academy recruit with defensive lineman Alexander McPherson getting the call from Colorado's staff. The Florida native has been committed to the Cowboys since June when the Big 12 program beat out other schools such as Michigan State, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Maryland.

Michigan State had been the biggest threat in his recruitment before he picked OSU. At this point he has not openly expressed an interest in backing away from his pledge, but the has been some chatter that the Buffs have piqued his interest. He's also been pretty heavily reposting CU-related things on social media as well during the season.

The Buffs have obviously been pretty active at IMG this season, with a few visitors from the school making the trek to Boulder this fall, so it won't be shocking at all if CU is able to get him on campus for a trip before he signs. He is a versatile defensive line prospect who likely will end up as a defensive end but could play really anywhere across the line.

LaJohntay Wester and Amari McNeil named Big 12 POW

Wester's impact on special teams for Colorado was highlighted by his 76-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter of the Buffaloes' 49-24 victory over Utah. The speedy wide out caught the punt before slicing through the middle of the field untouched and breaking away down the left side of the field for the score. Wester also tacked on 10 catches for 77 yards to end his day with 153 all-purpose yards.

McNeill was an instrumental part of Colorado's defensive unit that held the Utes to 31 rushing yards, which marked Utah's fewest yards on the ground since the 2011 season. The Buffaloes also forced four turnovers and four sacks as McNeill tallied three tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in the 49-24 win. The Suwanee, Georgia native has been key to CU's pass rushing prowess that has tallied 33 total sacks that ranks sixth nationally.

Random thoughts on future structure

I was thinking about our current head coaches, what appears to be the new structure that is starting to show up and how we might do it.

It seems like the future for big programs looks something like this

AD - oversees athletic department
President of Football operations
President of Basketball operations
GM football - oversees all recruiting and managing of players and brand
GM of basketball
Head Coach - overseas coaching, input on player matters and selection, run the coaching staff - same for both

For smaller schools or less
Flush P4 it may be that AD is also the operations folks.
In our model though I think we will be flush enough to have all three.

Tad Boyle to me isn’t a GM and would do well to have one. He is a good coach and if left to being a coach might do very well.

Coach Sanders might be an excellent GM. In both recruiting and promoting and caring for players. His strength is less so as a head coach and he might do well to have one under him.

It’s interesting the different strengths I see in both our flagship coaches. If each could find a solid partner to do what they don’t it could be really effective.

I feel like Sanders want a long ways towards this with his coordinators but I am unsure how far Tad has gone to shore up player acquisition with his hires.

I just find it all interesting as we watch the big boys move closer to this model. I think most of us at P4 will as well. As someone else said CU has a chance to be a sleeping giant. I don’t think it’s just recruiting or just coaching or just management. We need multiple people running a cohesive department using their individual
Strengths to achieve greatness at this level in todays game.

Really excited to see how the next 24 months develop on the college level and how we respond. I do believe for once it won’t be a day late and a dollar short. We might actually end up on the front end of it
