After a successful career at Beaumont High School, Rodrick spent a year at Mt. San Jacinto College near Palm Springs, California before transferring to SUU. "Coming out of JUCO, (SUU) was the only offer that I had, with Southern Utah being the only team that reached out to me, I felt like I owed it to them to show them my loyalty."

After a freshman year in 2019 where he rode the bench, Rodrick finally got the chance to show his talents at the Division I level in SUU's six-game sprint in the spring of 2021 where he started in all six games for the Thunderbirds.

AD Rick George elaborates on recent roster cuts

In this ESPN article courtesy of the NEWSTAND (Thanks @NCBuff !) ADRG provides some clarification on the rules regarding scholarships and roster cuts which may lessen some readers concerns about the ability of cut players to continue their education. Basically, there is a NCAA rule that provides that a new HC can cut a player but the school must continue to pay for the kid's education if he decides to remain at the school, as long as the player is not involved with the team at all. Those former players do not count toward scholarship limits even though they essentially remain on scholarship. He states that 4 players cut by HCDS have elected to remain at CU and separate from the team yet retain their scholarship. He did not specify which players.
Interestingly, ADRG also states that he expects the Buffs to go into the fall season with 67 scholarship players (as opposed to the 85 max ). I don't know if the NCAA "Aid after Departing Head Coach" rule is going to affect the decisions on how many active player scholarships to utilize, though I suppose it is at least conceivable as an overall $$ consideration. Point is that at least ADRG doesn't seem concerned about having a "full" roster of 85 scholarship players this season.

CU scholarship distribution chart (2023)

@Nikkieds and I worked on this today and got it all up to date. If you see any mistakes or if any other changes take place we will be sure to update the list. We've taken off JT Shrout with the word that he will be entering the transfer portal today. As of now, the Buffs have 94 scholarships spoken for with the NCAA limit being 85. So, CU has to find a way to cut down that list by the start of the season.
