Taking stock of Colorado's offense after the post-spring transfer flurry

Here's a full breakdown of the Buffs' current offense, what the offense lost, what they gained, what they still need and individual assessments of each unit. ⬇️

OT - When One Door Closes...Another Door Opens

When one door closes, another one opens…
Back in December 2022, the above phrase was true for Buff Nation. Coach Prime had just been hired to change the team and culture for Colorado Buffs Football.
In my case, my closing door was when I recently resigned from my part-time retail sales position at a large department store chain. It was a small source of extra income. If you’ve ever been in retail, you know you spend many hours on your feet during the day…even if it’s a “medical accommodation” situation where you are only there for four hours three days a week. The physical and mental fatigue caused by my cancer drug treatment and the hours on my feet were completely eroding my quality of life. The small amount of earnings was simply not worth the severe exhaustion. I would come home from work, take a three-hour nap, get up, have dinner, and then go right back to bed. My ability to enjoy simple activities and short-day trips was greatly limited due to my continuing fatigue and work schedule. Medical leave was no longer an option as I had already exhausted that benefit. My only choice was to resign, and upon grappling with that realization, I knew what I must do.
The part of that job that I will miss is the fellowship of the people with whom I worked. Their concerns and prayers have always meant a lot to me and still do. Fortunately, I still have many friends in Buff Nation and your concerns and prayers also support me.
Now that the door has closed on that part of my life, I am optimistic about the next opportunity. I’m not quite sure where that open door is yet, but I look forward to walking through it with an increased sense of purpose and energy.
I want to thank all of you who read Buff’s NewsStand for your ongoing support, concern, caring, prayers, and love.
Please don’t stop…I need you now more than ever!

Blessings to you all, Sko Buffs!

Big Ten considering removing requirement of playing a P5 in the OOC

This will make it even more difficult for the PAC to move to 8 conference games if they stay together. The Big 12 plays 9, the Big 12 plays 9 and the SEC will likely go to 9 when OU/UT join. The ACC plays only 8, but 5 teams a year play Notre Dame.

Replacing to 9th conference game with no P5 opponent will hurt in terms of money (non-P5 games draw less buts in seats) and TV inventory for the networks.

Marshall WR transfer EJ Horton was a young, yet utilized asset in the Thundering Herd's receiving core.

His freshman year he played in six games and recorded four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.

His sophomore was when he started to gain more action, but the action didn't come until late October. On Oct. 29, he recorded 3 catches for 39 yards against Coastal Carolina and the targets followed suit for the remainder of the season. He finished with 12 catches for 186 yards and a touchdown.

He received offers from Mississippi State, BYU, Cal and others. He visited CU last weekend.

Yet another Florida State player is headed to Colorado this offseason after redshirt sophomore defensive back Travis Jay announced his commitment to the Buffs just a few minutes ago. The three-star transfer player (Rivals) currently ranks 732nd overall. He is yet another transfer for the Buffs who was rated highly out of high school. Jay was a four-star prospect as a high school recruit out of Madison HS in Greenville, Florida in the 2019 class. Rivals rated him No. 172 overall in that class. He held a number of major offers at that time before settling on FSU with Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Clemson and Miami being some of the schools that pursued him as a high school prospect.

He's reportedly had some eligibility issues that kept him off the field throughout his career and an injury late in spring meant he wasn't able to participate in the spring game for the Seminoles. He last saw the field in late 2021 but has played in 16 matchups overall throughout his career with three starts. Jay has played corner and safety in his college career. He heads to Boulder with 43 career tackles (28 solo) plus 3 interceptions and 7 passes defensed.

OT: Broncos schedule (I know some care and others do not)

Currently Denver will be playing mostly Sunday day games. They have one NBC Sunday night game, they have one MNF game, one TNF game on Prime Time and one night game on the NFL Network. They have two games that will be on either Sat or Sun with the network to be named. Of course other games might get flexed.
