Milledgeville (Ga.) Baldwin running back Micah Welch has announced his commitment to the Buffs this morning adding to CU's weekend haul of official visitors. He is the third Rivals250 prospect to commit to the Buffs in as many days. Georgia, Florida, Louisville, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana are some of the programs that offered the 5-foot-9 back. Another impressive get for the Buffs and leaves just Florida cornerback Charles Lester as the lone visitor from the weekend who is uncommitted. He's set to take an official visit to Florida State this weekend, so no decision appears imminent but it is a good sign for CU and a really positive first visit weekend for Deion Sanders and his staff.

It was only a matter of time....

Letter to Daily Camera today is linked below. (Don't shoot the messenger)
Back in December I said Sanders’ rhetoric was going to run afoul of Boulder attitudes. I’m a bit surprised it has taken this long, but now the media, including National, is sure to jump all over this. It will only get worse if CU doesn’t have some success on the field this season.
It will not surprise me one bit, if Sanders eventually says “ I do it my way. If they (Boulder) doesn’t want me, fine - I’ll take my Louis Luggage someplace that does."

Official visit list: June 9-12

Colorado is set to host its first official visit weekend of the month, and thought the group will be small it certainly packs a punch. Some prospects will be on campus beginning today while Brandon Davis-Swain, for example, has said he won't begin his visit until tomorrow. Either way, some of the top targets in the class are going to be on campus in Boulder this weekend making it a big one to begin a busy stretch for the Buffs.

Recruits will be permitted to take unlimited official visits after July 1, per new NCAA rules, but the rule remains the same that they can only officially visit a school once throughout their recruitment unless there is a coaching change. So, for players like Lester and Welch it will be an important weekend. Swain has been out to Boulder previously, so the process is further along with him and the Buffs.

Not listed, but additionally CU will have four-star receiver commit Aaron Butler on campus as well this weekend. He's already used his one official visit to Colorado, so he is making his way out unofficially. However, it will be important to have him and fellow commits Danny O'Neil and Talan Chandler in town this weekend to help recruit the uncommitted prospects.

Apple WWDC 2023 happening tomorrow

The only reason I bring this up is because of a comment I read recently.

Interesting question asked of John Canzano in his weekly Mailbag column:
Q: Should we be watching the Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference on June 5 for a Pac-12 development? It was at these developer conferences where Apple announced the broadcasting of MLS and MLB in the past. Seems like the right kind of timing. — @Al_Avina

A:
It’s an interesting thought. I’ll tune in.

Tomorrow could be the day we find out if Apple is going to be the Pac 12's media partner (or one of them).

TE Eric Olsen and LB Eoghan Kerry leaving team

Daily Camera article today mentioned that these 2 are leaving the team. They will remain in school and retain their scholarships but have no connection to the program. Note: per the NCAA rules for aid when there is a new HC, these 2 scholarships will not count against the NCAA limit.

Personally, I had high hopes for both of these kids when originally signed as they were 2 of the more highly ranked and regarded recruits. Obviously, our TE group just got even thinner. Can Passarillo & Fauria (if even healthy) really be a factor in this offense?

Buffs NewsStand - Jun 9/10

Great read if you susbscribe

Pretty much right on to me. 3-4 wins is a big improvement and that’s likely the best they have

No depth anywhere except CB but some new key pieces to start

2 blue chippers last year - now they have 15

Secondary loaded but not one other position proven or not a concern save QB and no depth there

Most of what came here isn’t better than what left but again 15-16 are big improvements

Total overhaul was overkill but no way they can’t be better

Strategy might work but it won’t be 2023. Lots to like about 2024 and beyond based on recruting

Not rocket science just solid unbiased analysis.

MBB recruiting: 6-foot-10 big man Bangot Dak commits to CU

Lincoln (Neb.) Southeast standout big man Bangot Dak has announced his commitment to Colorado today less than a week after being offered by the Buffs. He started to make some noise this spring as an unsigned senior and had planned to do a post-grad year at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, but CU offered him as a 2023 recruit and is expected to add him for the upcoming season. He still has plenty of raw elements to his game but is a stout defensive prospect already. This addition should round out the roster for the upcoming season at CU.

So much realignment chatter today

With the BIG Ten still not technically finalized legally, and the Pac not getting close to the deal it needs it seems to be picking up steam. I am not remotley surprised but I am surprised by the sheer number of articles on CU to the BIG XII. That would just be fascinating to me. Two years ago, while knowing the PAC was long since a dead man walking I really couldnt have predicted a move to the BIG XII. I will be really intrigued to watch what other moves happen quickly if indeed CU and 1-3 other teams bolt. Crazy times. Here is just one of the many articles
