To everyone on the board, appreciate all you guys, and the fun discussions, to NCBuff for posting the NewsStand every day, rain or shine, while battling cancer, and to our mods, Troy, Nikki, and Matt, who are doing a great job! (despite such limited access to the football program.) Hope the upcoming year brings everyone good health, prosperity, great fun and laughs, NCAA success for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, and a winning football season, to go along with all the drama, and the carnival atmosphere, we all know will accompany the program!
On a side note, I took my girlfriend’s 7yr-old grandson, (and I’m really, by far, his main grandpa too), who lives in Houston, to his first ever live basketball game yesterday, at the Events Center. He’s pretty much a nerd, (think Young Sheldon) and not too much into sports, other than skiing, where I’ve been his personal instructor since he started at age 3. Well, he had a great time at the game, asked a lot of good questions, learned a lot about b-ball, and thought it was very exciting, and loved the big win. He’s now hooked, and all-in on going to another one, whenever they are back up here. (Funny anecdote, in the second half, he asked me why the crowd kept yelling his name, Dean. I had to explain to him that the crowd wasn’t yelling “Dean” the were yelling “D” for defense.) We met up at the game with a friend of mine, who‘s a CU alum, and big fan, and his 11 yr-old son, and it was a fun New Years Eve day for all of us.
(He has always wanted to check out a Buffs football game live, primarily to see Ralphie run, but they are typically not up here during football season, due to school.)
