JR Payne named candidate for national coach of the year honor

Colorado women's basketball has been an incredible story this season, at 20-5 and No. 21 in both major polls after being picked to finish eighth in the Pac-12 in the preseason. For that success, JR Payne is receiving consideration for the Naismith Women's College Coach of the Year award

NFL Draft

Looking at some of the mock drafts out there it’s clear DLine is the most coveted position behind QB this year. It seems like it’s been that way for a while now with OL being right up there.
When I was a kid it was so much more skill position oriented it seems like. I can remember RB being one of the most talked about positions each year and now they almost feel like an afterthought some years besides the one guy who is always wanted. Most of the mocks I’ve seen this year actually have two RB first round but both near the end of the first.
My one area I disagree with is Bruce Young over Stroud. Something tells me that Stroud will do better though neither is likely to get drafted by a team with any talent around them.
Random thoughts on a snowy day.

Michigan native Brandon Davis-Swain is one of the top defensive ends in the 2024 class, and his latest visit was out to Colorado last month. Monday, he dropped his top 11 and the Buffs made the cut. Rivals' Clint Cosgrove caught up with the top-40 recruit to discuss that recent trip to Boulder, his top group and a lot more.

Watch the full interview above.

Colorado signee Cody Williams named to Team USA roster for Nike Hoop Summit

Yet another honor for the Buffs' signee. He's in some elite company based on those who have competed both in the Hoop Summit and the McDonald's All-American game over the past 25-30 years

OT: Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns - Uh oh Nuggets

Dang, just when it looked like Denver might be able to run away with this thing, the West teams are making trades like crazy. Mortgaging their futures in order to win now. All the waiting we've done year after year to finally have a team that can get us to the Championship series and the teams around us have decided that patience isn't one of their virtues. If the Nuggets want to get there, they are going to have to make a move.

Starting Wide Receivers - And Contributors

The Wide receiver group is even more complicated to figure out the starters than the Oline. This is because there is abundant freshman talent - Tyson's injury status - a decent group leftover from HCD - and a slim number of Portal guys. Here's how I think it looks:

Slot - Jimmy Horn Jr. transfer from South Florida. Performed well on a poor team.

WR-1: Montana Lemonious-Craig - Healthy and talented returning player. Already hangs with and works out with Shedeur Sanders

WR-2 - Ty Robinson - 6'3" 195 lbs Colorado youngster - has been a Buff for a couple of years. He will have a shot at starting because he has experience, height and a college body.

Other slot players - Dyland Edwards - I expect he will line up in two rb sets - single back sets and may even line up as a WR - a play maker who will have multible ways to get on the field early. Issaiah Hardge - Florida kid - very fast but plays at 165 lbs - very top Florida HS state champs.

Jordon Tyson would be a starter but figures to Rehab until the 2nd half of the season (may even redshirt)

Grant Page - 6'3" college body - big production at Fairview in Boulder (over 100 yards per game average) Red shirt freshman Sleeper starter - Chase Sowell - 6'3" 195 - out of Humble Texas - mother and dad were athletes - could have had a career in baseball - Red shirt freshman - also a sleeper starter or potential contributor.

Talented Freshman recruits who will get snaps and may show enough to start: Omarion Miller (6'2" 198 lbs a physical specimen - had 1,500 yards and 20 tds in his senior year - stol Aen from the Nubs recruitment list), Adam Hopkins - very fast - two way recruit cb/wr (kick returner candidate), Asaad Waseem - Florida kid who also had almost 1,500 receiving and 20 tds ( Waseem is already on campus).

Most likely to redshirt as freshmen - Isaiah Hardge - Jordon Onovughe

Colorado's Tristan da Silva is 'reaping the rewards' of his years of work

Tristan da Silva hit his fifth consecutive 20-point game on Sunday. His numbers this season have him in an exclusive club with Josh Scott and Derrick White. Producing high volume with high efficiency, da Silva is reaping the benefits of years of hard work.

SEC to get 49mm per school

Not bad. A lot less than the BIG’s new deal but I’m guessing it goes north of 100mm next round. More if they expand like many of us think they will

SDSU and PAC-12 Expansion. What You Need to Know with TJ Altimore

Great interview with TJ Altimore. This guy is totally tied in with the Pac 12 leadership and has a lot to say, including a little history of the Pac 12. He's of the opinion that Utah will be SDSU's travel partner and SMU will be Colorado's travel partner. Also interesting that he confirms what I posted nearly a year ago that being near a major airport is very important for a school to be considered for Pac 12 membership. The interview begins at the one minute mark.
