Shilo Sanders shares his thoughts on the targeting call at UCLA

Arguments could be made for whether or not Shilo Sanders’ hit against UCLA's Carsen Ryan was targeting, but ultimately, the Buffs lost one of their best tacklers for a pivotal second half.

Antonio Alfano becoming Number 1 JUCO prospect

Now at Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA, seems like he might finally be taking both football and school seriously. Certainly didn't do that here, although I know he had some sort of epilepsy issue as well. Offered by USC, Texas, LSU etc. for next year. Maybe he'll finally play a P5 down?

New Schedule Thoughts?

Thanks as usual to @rward for not only posting the new grid but breaking it down by trips, etc. I'd love to know what everyone thinks? It seems many were not happy with the move back to the BIG XII and the rumor of Pods seemed to sour many even more. I have always loved the move but would have hated Pods had they happened. I didnt think they would ever happen but Yormark is a wild card so you never know.

I really like what I am seeing.
Pros:
- great variety of teams across the country
- lots of Texas exposure and good Florida exposure
- the league looks no weaker than the PAC and if anyting is much more competitive without being as top heavy
- lots of potential to make a 12 team playoff (will need to finish top 2 most years)
- Im excited to try some new stadiums - WVU, Cincy, Houston, BYU, Kansas (with its new faciliteis), TCU and UCF. I have not been to any of them.
- Much better time zones for recruiting and brand awareness
- killer basketball (seeing the teams just made me think of this)

Cons:
- long haul to UCF every few years if want to attend and Orlando is a dump so one time is probably my limit
- Lose the Power fo USC and UO for conference strength (I still think overall its stronger, but it does help to have some heavies)
- Iowas Sate, UCF, Texas Tech just do not inspire me in football or Basketball but every conference has those teams
- Dont get to go to the Pacific Northwest for games / vacation
- ASU still gets to be the only Junior College allowed to play A4 football
- killer of a basketball schedule

Overall, seeeing the schedule and variety of teams got me even more exvited for the move. Hoping UU, UA, KU and UH turn into good rivals in Football or Basketball or ideally both. What does everyone thin k?

The Buffs have wasted no time trying to solve their offensive line issues moving into the future. Colorado has earned a commitment from 2024 offensive tackle recruit Issiah Walker from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. Like so many players on CU's roster, he is a Florida native who comes from Miami. Purdue, Houston, Syracuse and Memphis are some of his other notable offers. The Buffs offered him back in May.

He has two seasons of remaining eligibility.

Over / Under Week 8 Results vs UCLA

In the Stanford game 9 out of 10 were Over. In this game 9 out of 10 were under, and the only Over was on the field goal by 1/2 yard. Schizo!

Ldbuff and rward both had 8 correct, but ldbuff takes the week on the 1st tiebreaker.

Pick results are first, then below is a list of where everyone stands with their correct weekly picks in parenthesis. This is how I will show it each week, instead of a separate list for weekly vs overall standings.

If you think I made a mistake let me know asap.

1) CU Points - 24.5 - Under (16)

We have a shot at one more win

It’s pretty hard to watch the way the team appears to be fraying. You could see it in tbe kids eyes as soon as UCLA went up 21-9 last night. We got manhandled all night. Kudos to the defense for the turnovers. That is the only reason it wasn’t 45-9.

What I’ve watched, including the second half of USC and ASU games, is a team that isn’t a team and lacks that extra gear. The chemistry is off if you aren’t talking about 3-4 guys that are brothers and tight. You can just see it jn how they play.

Now we have a position group, while deserving of criticism, being told they are being replaced by their head coach after the game. This thing feels very shaky.

I can’t see us beating OSU, UA or UU. We might even get beat badly by a couple of them.

Our last shot is WSU. Tall order in their stadium at night in November but they also have some real struggles going on all of the sudden.

I can’t see anymore besides that and if they don’t right the ship quickly we don’t stand a chance in any of them

Transfer Portal - Talent

Now that we have made it 2/3 through the season, it's pretty clear that Prime did not bring many pieces of LV from the TP. I do think we have seen some very talented freshman that have a lot of potential to become that with experience (like O. Miller, Stoutmire, Edwards, McClain), and there are reports that Coach Hart really likes the Freshmen LBs, but there is still a lot to be desired. Thoughts on the list below for the players that we have already seen a bit this year brought in by Prime et al (for their luggage brand):

Legit LV: Shedeur, Hunter, Weaver and MAYBE Horn and Shilo

Samsonite: Alston, Antonio, Bentley, Cooper, Dawson, Dominick, Manns, Mata (if inside of 35 yards), , Mitchell (when allowed to play), Silmon-Craig, Ward

Amazon Basics: Breedlove, Cokes, Gaines, Harris, McClendon (maybe one of the most disappointing), McKaskill, McNeill, Payne, Slusher, Walker, Wilkerson

Old Shopping Bag: ENTIRE OL, J. Brown, Feely, Jay, Kennedy, Robinson, Smalls, Smoke, Wallace.

Left out are all of the prior regimes' players, good or bad, since they are not the ones that this staff brought in and touted so highly.

I don't think any of the above were injured as an excuse for not getting PT or an opportunity, so that means that they have not shown the coaches that they are better than a lot of the garbage on the field.

So far, I think it's pretty clear that you cannot build an entire team from the TP. It should be used to fill in spots to rent a player for a year or two, and with only a handful of exceptions, you should not expect to get more than 2-3 players that are legit LV opposed to just bodies.
