OT RIP Dickey Betts

Dickey Betts, guitarist, and one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band passed away at age 80. He had been battling cancer and COPD. They were one of my favorite all-time bands, with their unique country rock sound. Dickey wrote some of their most iconic songs. Their early '70s album, Allman Brothers Band Live at the Fillmore, is considered to be one of best live rock albums, ever produced. I was fortunate enough to see them a couple of times, during their early touring heyday, and will always remember those concerts, as some of the best I've ever witnessed.

Tragic events in Oregon

It’s always easy to criticize someone for hit and run. It’s a gutless crime. I can’t help but feel bad for all involved though. Especially if the kid was sober and not racing. I was the last person to see a 12 year old who was struck within seconds just a couple hundred yards past where he rode he bike by me this past year. The woman stayed and was later arrested for reckless driving even though she wasn’t speeding et. She just made the ultimate mistake and hit the kid who was on the side of the road riding to school. The family lost a son and brother and the whole community was rocked. The family will never get him back and will live with it forever.

Sad thing to see this kid throw so much away and for a family to lose a loved one.

Portal opening

The time has come. The spring transfer portal window opens Tuesday, April 16th and remains open until the 30th. Speculation is that there will be a very high volume of portal entries among Power-4 schools. There are reasons to believe that CU will be losing more players, and that some may be with guys we don't want to lose.

The good news is that Sanders and his staff are very familiar with maneuvering the portal, so, given the availability of adequate NIL, we should be able to act quickly to fill holes. The bad news is that all of this is happening while CU is still involved in spring practice, with the spring game occurring only a couple of days before the portal closes. It's just bad timing.

I'm anticipating CU to have some losses that we don't want to see. As for high quality additions, it's anybody's guess. A real downside of this is that any newcomers we acquire through the portal won't have had the oppotunity to learn with the team during spring practice. That puts a heavy burden on pulling everything together during the August practices before our first game on August 31st.

Visitor scoop for the S.G. (SIAP)

Unfortunately it's from a different outlet but definitely valuable information. And there are some big-time visitors that are looking to show up for the spring game.

Bama Spring Game

Having a beer at DIA waiting for my plane to Seattle. Quick get away for a couple days and Bama happens to be on. So hard to tell anything from spring games and it feels like half the coverage is of the coach.

I know a lot of people are down on him but I think the guy has shown he is a heck of a coach. The SEC goes through UGA and maybe, @mrmcbeath45 , Ole Miss. Hard to not see Bama right there with those two as well as LSU. I suspect he does a great job but might still get run out if he hasn’t made the title game in 3 years which jsut got a lot harder with an expanded playoff.

2025 DL Trajen Odom recaps first visit to CU

Trajen Odom is a California native who is now in North Carolina, and he has been well traveled this spring criss-crossing the country taking visits to some of the priority schools on his offer list. The 6-foot-5 defensive lineman made a key stop in Boulder over the weekend as he was finally able to take an long-anticipated trip to Colorado.

The Buffs left the high three-star prospect impressed as Deion Sanders and his staff look to beat out an impressive list of programs in pursuit of the versatile 2025 recruit.

"It was great being out there seeing the school for the first time," he told CU Sports Report. "Spending time with coach and the staff really made me see that they are all genuine and real. They make it a family environment, and hearing the vision of coach of plans to elevate the program is great."

He's diving back into setting up some more official visits but as of now Ohio State, USC and Oregon are all set to host the Inglewood, Calif. native later this spring. He's got a visit to North Carolina planned Friday and could visit South Carolina Saturday but will then take a break to reflect on his recent string of trips.

CU seems to have put itself more into the mix after his weekend visit.
