Spring game impressions

We are currently not deep on O or D. 2nd teams are VERY unimpressive.

We have pretty good size on the OL, but other power positions still need size (DT, DE LB, TE) and strength.

Skill/Athlete positions except RB look really good. QB, Corner especially but DBs generally , WR look very capable but we still need to add strength IMO. No MIchael Westbook type players at WR and our DBs wont intimidate teams over the middle, although I do think CBTH looks to have added some good weight.

Impossible to tell anything re: play calling on D or O but i didint see any explosion on the edge.

Lots of unknown skill and depth is still coming so depth overall being poor is not surprising but the summer and fall are going to be critical for this team to gel. They also still need to get stronger everywhere IMO. Teams are going to keep blitzing and generally kicking sand in our face if we cant go toe to toe.

We need a running game so i sure hope one of the new RBs steps up. Between midwest wind and weather QBSS isnt going to be successful throwing the ball 50+ times per game and we need to slow down the pass rush.

We are going to have to outscore teams again this year unless all the new defensive guys make a big difference.

We look solid on O but still not an A until we can prove the ability to run and protect. C- to D+ on Defense. NO pass rush, no power, no explosion but plenty of solid DBs. Lets not sleep on North Dakota State with all our new guys still getting to know each other it could be interesting.

This week's visitors (CU Spring Game)

It has already been a busy week for the Buffs in the days leading up to Saturday's spring game. Some prospects are already nearing the end of their visits while others are arriving for tomorrow's big event.

End Spring Practice & Game

After thinking about the 21 portal transfers leaving during spring football, I contend that spring football should be eliminated and moved to June 1st. A few reasons for the move:
Positives
1) Players that will actually be on the '24 season roster will have reported. All transfers and true freshman will have reported.
2) Position depth won't be an issue (see the RB room this spring game)
3) Coaches will be working with players that will actually be on the roster for '24 thus less reteaching in fall camp.
4) Weather
5) ????

Negatives
1) Less time to heal an injury (actually only about 1 month if the injury occurred in the current spring game)
2) Student attendance at summer game
3) ????

Everything Deion Sanders said after Colorado's spring game

After Colorado's spring game Saturday -- which involved a unique scoring system that resulted in a 29-24 edge for the Buffs offense -- coach Deion Sanders gave his thoughts on the performance, some individual standouts and some broader topics.

Full transcript:

Spring Game Thread

Spring Game today! Very light attendance in the rain, but the first showcase for Deion Sanders' second season at Colorado. One roster note: Buffs don't have any running backs active today due to transfers and injuries, so freshman corner Isaiah Hardge will play running back just for today. They'll be getting underway here in a few minutes, will be posting updates/observations throughout.
