Setting the stage for four-star top-50 SF Cody Williams' decision tomorrow -- our interview

As I mentioned at the time, I sat down with four-star top-50 national prospect Cody Williams a week and a half ago at his high school in Gilbert, Ariz.. My laptop then died that day, I spent the afternoon trying to get it fixed, then bought a cheap $129 ASUS laptop to get me through the weekend on the road, got home and almost immediately flew cross country to a wedding in South Carolina this past weekend. So I wanted to have this up sooner, but Williams also didn't tip his hand at all.

I think there is some good perspective into what he values most and how he's approached the process, though. We had a long interview:

We'll find out tomorrow morning -- 9 a.m. MT -- whether Colorado reeled him in.

McChesney On Altitude This Morning . . .

. . . said he is "very satisfied and positive" about what he's seen with respect to the coaching search. Said he he knows stuff that he can't talk about in public, but said that CU is doing the right things. Also said that Joel Klatt is on the search committee and is pretty vocal.

God knows I had my complaints about JK when he was pushing for Embree 12 years ago but . . . well, that was 12 years ago when he had was co-hosting a Denver morning radio show. JK now is one of the most influential people in all of college football and if you read his tweets and listen to his podcasts, he pulls no punches when it comes to the new reality of college sports, and using the transfer portal and creative use of NIL to get players in the door to improve on field results. If he's being vocal with the CU administration, that's a good thing.

As for McChesney . . . he's a blowhard. But I don't doubt is passion for CU Football either.

Anyway, just throwing this out for what it's worth.

Decision day: Broomfield HS QB Cole Lacrue

Broomfield High quarterback Cole LaCrue announced his top three schools tonight and he is getting closer to making a decision. The 6-foot-2 prospect recently added an offer from the Buffs, but my understanding is that it comes with the stipulation of being a gray shirt offer meaning LaCrue wouldn't arrive on campus until next January (2024). His plan at the moment is to arrive on his future college campus this upcoming January. Still, he has included the Buffs on his newly-announced list tonight along with Wisconsin and Tulane, which also both offered him in the last week.

Wisconsin is the heavy favorite to land his commitment at this stage.

Here's what he said this week about the other two programs on his list.

"Colorado is a school I grew up dreaming about playing at. It would be awesome playing in front of my family at home and attend my dad's alma mater. But at the same time, their program has seen a decline in recent years.

"I am really intrigued by Tulane. Obviously they are a program on the come up and ranked, so I definitely need to check them out. I will be enrolling early anywhere I go."

Jon Gruden Interested in 1 College HC Job

“Jon Gruden has been out of coaching for a little more than a year, following his email scandal broken by the Wall Street Journal.”

“South Florida fired head coach Jeff Scott on Sunday night. Gruden, who coached in Tampa Bay for several years, reportedly has interest in the job.”

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nc...A13PXVO?cvid=8613de1a4e004768beb8aa749049a6ce

And, NO, don’t even dream about Gruden to CU. No way the powers to be at CU would even briefly toy with the idea due to his history Gruden used racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic language in emails.

COMMITMENT: Jordan Onovughe picks CU

A very nice pickup for Colorado today. Jordan Onovughe is someone I watched earlier in the season, and I didn't understand how more schools weren't involved. He's tapered off a bit as the competition has increased this season, but he still is plenty talented and is someone who can become a really good college player. He helps the Buffs get into Mater Dei HS in California, which is the most talented team in the country. Plus, he adds another versatile piece for the offense. The appearance that comes with his commitment is a good one no matter how you slice it.

The Buffs now have the 41st-ranked recruiting class, nationally, according to Rivals.com.
