Ryan Wingo comments on his Boulder visit

From On3

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound wideout holds 41 offers. He took an unofficial visit to the Crimson Tide on Nov. 26.

“It’s Alabama, so it would mean a lot just like every other offer would,” Wingo told Joseph Hastings of BamaInsider on May 2. “Just a blessing. With Alabama, Jameson Williams came from St. Louis, he went to Alabama, and got drafted. They put somebody from my city in that situation… it would be a good feeling to get it. Just got to wait and see what happens.”

Wingo has taken numerous visits over the past few months. The weekend before the dead period, he was in Boulder to unofficially visit Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders.

“It was a fun visit,” Wingo told On3’s Chad Simmons on Jan. 29. “It went past my expectations for sure because I’d never been to Colorado, so I kind of thought it was just gonna be real, real cold, kind of a boring city and (it) just really has the football team and stuff like that. But that’s not what I saw when I got there. It was just different. It was a nice place to visit, get to see.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a close race between two schools for Wingo’s pledge. They are Tennessee (47%) and Notre Dame (39.3%).

Buffs beat Stanford to conclude the weekend with a Bay Area sweep

“Our offense is a tale of two halves. Our offense in the first half was really good, scored 39 points, and our defense wasn't great and then we just kind of flipped that switch.”

Official Game Thread: CU vs Stanford

Hello, hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday! Buffs (13-11) taking on the Cardinal (10-12) tonight at the CU Events Center. ICYMI, J'Vonne Hadley has been officially ruled out for the season after suffering an injury on his finger during the Cal game. It will require surgery. Stanford sits 9th in the P12 averaging 68.86 ppg. However, they've been putting up a fight on defense holding opponents to 65.45 ppg, third in the P12. Buffs are right their with them holding opponents to 65.79 ppg, fourth in the P12.

Tonight's starters
KJ Simpson (16.0 ppg)
Jalen Gabbidon (5.3)
Nique Clifford (6.0)
Tristan da Silva (16.2)
Lawson Lovering (3.6)

Michael O'Connell (4.8 ppg)
Spencer Jones (13.3)
Brandon Angel (7.1)
Maxime Raynaud (8.0)
Harrison Ingram (9.6)

Somethings I like so far

1) The team workouts really appeal to me - it not only serves the conditioning purpose but also promotes the team chemistry and comradery.

2) The social media and videos obviously create a buz among recruits. I like them because it allows me to see the athletes more 3 dimensionally and allows me to orient to the program in the physical place they spend their time.

3) Sanders and his coaches recruit to a simple mantra: they want athletes who are fast, tough, smart and disciplined with character. They are all on the same page.

4) The talent acquisition has had method to its madness. There appears to be some depth in the lines and the skill position (except QB has experience gaps), but there is a plan to fill any gaps after spring ball when the portal opens up in May.

5) The facilities have been transformed from an institutional look to a kind of cool club look.

6) The food service folks - the maintenance guys and the custodians have all been newly conditioned to think they add value to the program and are appreciated.

7) The athletes have been messaged to show respect to women.

8) Prime's pitch to parents - that he is the only person in the room who has been a recruit - the parent of a recruit and the Coach recruiting them is effective - as is the notion that Sanders is here to make men out of these boys - and get them ready for the NFL and life. I can't image a more universally appealing message for parents to consume.

9) Just so Boulder or CU administrators don't feel left out - Sanders always makes a point to tell everyone how much he loves Boulder and how trustworthy and cooperative the AD and the President are in helping him deliver beneficial change to the program.

10) One of the things that tickles me the most is Sanders understands - that by giving credit to the players, the staff, the administrators, the workers and the townsfolk all the time allows everyone to give him credit.

The only things missing so far are the videos very rarely show returning athletes as part of the mix. The only prominent role of a returnee so far is Montana L-C.

Oklahoma DE Danny Okoye recaps 'really informative' visit to Colorado

Colorado’s defensive ends coach Nick Williams saw what DE Danny Okoye, a top 2024 Oklahoma prospect, cooked up on Tulsa's NOAH Homeschool varsity team and invited him to Boulder to gain a sense of what a future with the Buffaloes could look like.

More on his conversation with Coach Prime and what he's looking for in a program:

I'd pay close attention to this announcement tomorrow. Chandler is coming directly off his visit to Boulder. It's difficult to find true Power 5 center prospects at the high school level. The Missouri native could play a variety of positions at the next level but center looks like the most likely possibility at this stage.
