RIP Tim McCarver

As a kid growing up in SoCal and a Dodger fan I always liked the Cardinals too becuase that was my Little League Team's name. TM was a heck-of-a-good player and a stellar broadcaster as well. RIP, Sir.

No. 8 Arizona didn’t miss much on Saturday as it kept in front of Colorado by 10 points or more for the majority of the game in what ended up as a 78-68 loss for the Buffs.

Tennessee-based safety Marcus Goree Jr. will be focused on five schools moving forward after announcing his top five this morning. The 2024 recruit was among the visitors during CU's Elite Underclassmen event in January, and the Buffs are part of the list along with Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska and Michigan State. Some notable teams that have offered but didn't make the list include Notre Dame, Louisville, Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. He's currently rated as a high three-star prospect and the ninth-best recruit in Tennessee.

Big 12 talking to Fresno State ...

According to John Canzano:

• Big 12 Conference commissioner Brett Yormark told Jon Wilner and me this week in our podcast that his conference was still looking to add members. Boise State sits in the Mountain Time Zone and hasn’t been afraid to kickoff football games at night.

Would the Big 12 consider Boise State?

Yormark said, “I’ve been pretty transparent and intentional that we’d like that fourth time zone to create more value for our media partners… would I like to be a national conference in all the different time zones from a geography standpoint have the Big 12 flag all over the country? 100 percent.”

• Keep an eye on Fresno State as an addition to the Big 12 Conference. I’m told the Pac-12 has only had “intermittent” contact with the Bulldogs. No visit. Nothing planned. I don’t think the presidents and chancellors — especially the ones a few hours away in the Bay Area — in the Pac-12 view Fresno as a “must have.”

• Fresno State and the Big 12 are talking, though. Yormark and Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval have had “multiple conversations” a source said. The Bulldogs would love to join a Power Five conference.

CU on ESPN front page again…

Cannot remember the last time we had this much publicity. It’s sort of a dead and down time, but then this pops up. I don’t know who is responsible for this, but it’s great! And the spring game might be a sellout! That’s like more people than we’ve had in the last 15 spring games combined. This is AWESOME

Official Game Thread: CU vs ASU

Hope everyone is having a good week! Buffs (14-12) take on the Sun Devils (18-8) in Tempe. Buffs almost beat them at home, but fumbled the lead. My hopes aren't the highest entering this game with the way the Buffs perform on the road (1-8).

Some notes on the Sun Devils: Arizona St. just swept the Bay Area schools. Arizona State averages 71.2 points while shooting 41.9 percent from the field. Defensively, the Sun Devils are holding opponents to 66.7 points per game and has the second-best field goal percentage defense in the Pac-12 at 38.8 percent.

Tonight's starters:
KJ Simpson (16.2 ppg)
Jalen Gabbidon (5.1)
Tristan da Silva (16.5, 4th in the P12)
Lawson Lovering (3.6)
Nique Clifford (6.2)

ASU:
G DJ Horne (11.5 ppg)
G Desmond Cambridge Jr. (13.7)
G Frankie Collins (11.2)
F Warren Washington (8.6)
G Devan Cambridge (10.2)

With BLVD closed down, USC's NIL collective market in flux

Ha ha.
The USC NIL collective market is currently in flux. Multiple sources have confirmed to On3 that BLVD, which launched in June through the media agency Stay Doubted, has shut down day-to-day operations. The TOMMY Group launched earlier this week, with the backing of former USC football players Alex Holmes and Keyshawn Johnson.

So what will NIL look like for USC football in the coming months? What fell apart? And is NIL still a hurdle for Lincoln Riley?

But a bit more than eight months after the initial announcement was posted on USC athletics’ website, the web page is dead. BLVD, which defined itself as a “collective+”, has closed down day-to-day operations. The organization turned heads, signing Fletcher Jones Motorcars as the official luxury car dealer of the collective and providing more than 100 football players with a Ridel electric scooter. The organization also had plans to secure official partnerships for the Trojans student-athletes, with a goal of raising $75 million in five years.

Two sources with direct knowledge of the situation indicated to On3 the root cause of BLVD’s fall was a disconnect between USC and leaders of Stay Doubted.

When the collective initially hit the market, it came after months of backroom planning. Michael Calvin Jones, Stay Doubted’s founder and leader of BLVD, worked closely with Brandon Sosna, the right-hand man to athletic director Mike Bohn.

My Two Emotional Rollercoasters

Hello Buff Friends and Donors,
One emotional rollercoaster is the miracle that CP and staff have are performing to transform our beloved Buffs teams!

The second emotional roller coaster is dealing with my ongoing cancer treatment. I appreciate your continuing prayers and generosity. Dealing with my cancer is like riding an emotional rollercoaster. Every time I receive a note or donation from you it’s an exhilarating “Up”! Here’s an example. Recently, my wife, Diane, and I were having a rare dinner out and we were sitting at a counter. A couple sat down next to us. We engaged in conversation and her husband said “You look familiar to me;” but couldn’t quite place it. A few more questions and we found out that we were friends on Facebook, even though we had never actually met. His wife said that they were praying for me and that she, being a reiki practitioner, was sending me healing energy. WOW!!!! Wasn’t that proof of how small this world is and how powerful even a contact like this can be! The downside is the continuous treatments required for my advanced stage 4 cancer and the associated bills. My oncologist says that my Keytruda is holding the cancer at bay, and is encouraged by its performance in my unique case. I wish I wasn’t faced with a seemingly never-ending treatment schedule and the constant mounting bills. You are a lifeline for me and I don’t believe I can ever thank you enough for your consistent support.
My medical bills are overwhelming, and the interest rates continue to pile up every month. I feel like I am underwater. Presently, I am $8600 dollars in medical credit card debt. I spoke with my lawyer regarding filing bankruptcy, but he advised me not to do so at this time. We discussed both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy and it simply made no sense given my total debt at this time.
It's so stressful for me, my limited work, and my personal life. I feel like a hamster running inside a wheel going nowhere!
Once again, thank you for your continued emotional and financial support. You make my life so much better. God bless you all.

Shoulder To Shoulder! Craig
