David Tate is a a three-star outside linebacker prospect and top 100 California recruit that I have already done a couple updates on. Basically nothing has changed with his recruitment since I last interviewed him in the spring but he has packed on nearly 20 pounds of muscle to his frame and now stands 6-foot-3, 220-pounds. The converted quarterback is hearing the most from Colorado, Utah State, Fresno State and Colorado State. He was planning to take a trip to the Centennial State to check out what the Buffs and Rams have to offer this summer, but those unofficial visits have yet to take place. "I am still trying to decide when I can visit the Colorado schools. I have been really busy working out this summer and haven't had a chance to get out there yet," he said. "We have a week off from summer practices at my school next week so I am thinking about maybe getting out there next week. I just need to figure that out with my parents." Tate said he is anxious to check out CU's facilities and he wants to see if Boulder feels like home. He is taking his time with the process. I get the sense if CU still has room for him later on, the Buffs will be his leader. Look for a front page update with more later this week.
