You'll recall that Gerald Chatman was recently a defensive assistant at LSU before briefly accepting the Tulane d-line gig, which lasted only a month or so before he was hired on in the same capacity at Colorado.

Today, Chatman issued an offer to LSU transfer linebacker Josh White, who only entered the portal on March 28.

White is a former four-star prospect out of Cypress, Texas, who signed with LSU's Class of 2020. From what I gather, he has four years of eligibility remaining. Played in a reserve role for the Tigers as a true freshman, seeing action in all 10 games LSU played.

Injuries kept him off the field entirely for the 2021 campaign; 6-foot-1, 228-pound player. The Buffs are in need of another body at ILB given the medical retirement of Jack Lamb. Chatman has a nice connection here but frankly, as we've come to see with some acquisitions CU has made in recent years, just because a transfer comes from a big-name school doesn't mean they'll pan out or see 500 snaps-plus on defense in Boulder.

I don't know much about how White's been recovering from injury, but I think it's safe to say he's a coin flip. Could very well hit the ground running in 2022 wherever he lands, but there's also a chance that he simply won't. Either way, he presents an interesting option for the Buffs.
