MacIntyre...

Saw this article from our Ole Miss rivals site concerning MacIntyre and the Ole Miss job.

Here's the excerpt:

MacIntyre, 52, worked on David Cutcliffe’s staff at Ole Miss from 1999 until 2002. He has turned around programs at San Jose State and now Colorado, earning national coach of the year honors in 2016. Sources have indicated MacIntyre is at least interested in the Ole Miss job and would listen to the Rebels’ overtures, should they come.

“I think he has an interesting name there,” one source said. “He has SEC ties. He’s shown he can take programs in shambles and make them winners. I think if Ole Miss could pull him from Colorado, that would be a huge win. He’s young enough to have energy to handle recruiting and experienced enough to handle an SEC job.”

“I think he’s the guy they think would come and take over if the program is decimated,” another source said. “He told me specifically he’s a big fan of Oxford.”

“I think Mike would absolutely consider it,” another said. “He has poor facilities at Colorado. He might be intrigued by one of those deals where he has five or six years to do something. I think he’s looking to get out of there and I really do think that if he’s somebody they’re really interested in, they’d have a really good shot to get him. He doesn’t have security at Colorado right now. Ole Miss is a tough job, of course, but it’s not easy to do what he did last year in the Pac-12.”

Final drive

Even with the lopsided 4th qtr CU had a chance. They got the ball back with about 5:30 minutes and needed s FG to tie.

They moved the ball a bit then tried a JayMac pass hoping to catch the D sleeping. He was smart not to force a throw.

2nd and 9. I told my wife that the way asu was running the ball, if They get it back they will run out the clock. This is CUs last possession. 4 down territory. I said just don’t take a sack. What happens? A sack. Montez needs to be ready to get rid of the ball. Skip it to someone just don’t go backwards.

3rd and what, 18? If you can’t hit an open man for all of it just get a chuck if it back and make 4th down reasonable. Instead a deep ball down the sidelines to a covered wr. Was he behind the dB in one on one coverage, sure but the dB was running with him. it is a low percentage play.

Now it’s 4th and 18 so they had to punt. I just think the 2nd and 3rd down decisions were not great and that sealed their fate.

Not saying Montez lost the game b/c so many things played into it - punt block, dropped passes (more than just the tds), multiple times WRs fell down, poor tackling (good effort trying to rip the ball out but dudes just kept running and moving the chains).

Frustrating. Absolutely gave UCLA and asu games away.

Wow! At least we're not Ohio state or Oklahoma State especially with their high $$$ boosters

How about this lump of coal for 2 of the best in college football.

worst loss in Urban Meyers tenure and to a lowly un ranked team of Iowa.

How about 700 yards of offense of which 500 through the air

Sure good to see perennial teams with superior coaching and athletes doing so well. NOT

Even LA Dodgers could not but a. Championship with highest payroll ever in MLB

Perspective from a former CU student athlete.

Three thoughts: Fourth quarter collapse by Coloardo

1. 24-3. That was the scoring total in the fourth quarter, and you can guess pretty easily which team had 24. Colorado held a 27-17 lead going into the fourth quarter, and in that third quarter, I thought the Buffs were playing good, "bend but don't break" defense. ASU had drives of 15 and 10 plays in the third quarter but only came away with six points. But then in the fourth quarter, the Buffs absolutely fell apart and their lack of depth in the front seven showed. The defensive line is especially weak for Colorado as they did not record a sack the entire game, and (you might want to take a deep breath before reading this next stat) the CU defense gave up 191 rushing yards in the fourth quarter alone. ASU had 191 rushing yards through the first three quarters too. ASU only had 13 passing yards in the fourth quarter in their come from behind effort. It was just a very embarrassing showing by the Colorado defense in the fourth quarter. Epicly bad. Oh, and don't get me started on the blocked punt.

2. Offense falls apart. The offense doesn't get off the hook. They fell apart in the fourth quarter as well. Outside of Montez's 60 yard catch and run completion to Lindsay on a broken play, Colorado couldn't get anything going. It was also disappointing that Lindsay only got seven rushes in the second half. He finished with 23 carries for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Lindsay did not get as much work as he should have gotten, and Lindgren needs to find more than just running PL up the gut. It's very predictable to figure out where PL is going when he gets the rock... Montez's pocket presence wasn't great today and the offensive line allowed five sacks. I liked what Colorado did in the first three quarters offensively but the fourth quarter is where boys become men, and Colorado didn't get it done.

3. Bowl chances? Despite what you might think, the Buffs still have a chance to make a bowl game with their current 5-5 record. Although I have a hard time believing the Buffs can win another road game. CU didn't look good against a horrible Oregon State team in Corvallis in their only road win. Utah seems to be bouncing back and crushed UCLA this week. The Buffs will get them off a bye which will help. For the USC game next week, the Trojans are starting to get things together and I'm currently watching them on TV beat up on Khalil Tate and the Wildcats. That's going to be a really tough game to win. So right now, I'm putting CU's bowl chances at 40%.

where is the fire in the belly

Any team that is winning the whole game well into the 4th quarter and finds a way to lose is devoid of leadership. Among coaches and players who do we have that is a "hell no, we aint losing this game" leader? Maybe Lewis and definately Lindsay but thats it really. We had a good enough team to win tonight but dropped passes, threw bad passes, had poor QB protection, a totally gassed d due to no sustained drives and the loss of TIm Lynott that were our doom. We apparently have no capable backup OL as the game literally turned when Lynott went out. In the first half RBPL and Montez had time and space in the second half not so much. We could only score on big plays so our thin defense got worn down and exposed. I'm not as down on our talent as most of you are, we just got the snowball running down hill and couldnt stop it and for crying out loud we need a leader to put the team on their back and say nufs enuf.

Disappointed that QBSM choses to go down or not stretch for first down yardage when he can. A leader would have gotten the first down and sustained a drive. The dude has all kinds of talent but seems lazy and not real concerned about moving the chains when its clear his defense is gassed. He went out of bounds at least 2 times which led to us punting or turning the ball over on downs in scoring position because MOntez didnt stretch.

Speaking of lazy, is there another d1 punter in the history of the game that could get a punt blocked running away from pressure by the offside defensive end? Nobody blocked the guy because its not supposed to be possible for him to get to the punter yet the ball is blocked. Crazy.

I hope our 3 star recruits have some 5 star nastiness and leadership because that is the biggest deficiency in this team. A little nastiness, leadership and some serious weightroom work would take care of alot of problems this team has.

BTW, if we miss a bowl the coaching watch begins. I like our head coach prsonally but 150 million in upgrades demands a winning program. HCMM likes to make excuses about this or that or deny the obvious which is ironic coming from the Parcells coaching line. Parcells coined the phrase we are what our record says we are. HCMM is more likely to say his team is better than the record would indicate and pretend to not notice when his team is physically outplayed. We need a leader that keeps it real and then goes about fixing things. I hope HCMM can be that guy.
