OT: anyone have any secret Corned Beef and Cabbage tips to share?

I spend Sundays with my 81 year old mom and I will be making a slow cooker full of Corn Beef and Cabbage.

My go to is very simple, of course Corned Beef, small red potatoes (skid on), carrots, onion and cabbage. I use an Irish Red Ale, beef broth, salt, pepper and Corn Beef spices from the spice store in Olde Town Arvada. Put the Beef in early, about halfway thru add the potatoes and carrots, then the cabbage to last hour.

I am going to make another batch at home during the first weekend of the tourney, so will look at doing ant of the tip people have today.

About to walk over to Olde Town and check out the St. Pats day stuff they have going on now and get back for the second half of the 3:30 and on games,

Tonight’s game.

How’s everyone feel about the game tonight ? Three times in a year is tough sledding when two fairly even teams match up. I like our chances and think we get it done but I wonder how often it happens a team beats another 3 times in a season when they are both near the top of the table.

Love to see us win going away and roll into the tourney one of the hottest teams in the country

Kudos

The season definitely did not start off as hoped, but I‘ve got to give this teach and Coach kudos for how they’ve played down the stretch. Every game has been a must win and they’ve won them all, including beating teams that still had something to play for. We’ll see what the tourney committee thinks, but this team has done everything you can ask for these last few weeks.

Buff MBB steppin up...

The Buffs are finally playing to the level expected of a team with at least 3 NBA caliber players. HAppy to see the current win streak. HCTB is proving maybe old dogs can learn new tricks and that he can coach a team to have good chemistry. THis team, for the most part, shares the ball, plays good team defense, has learned to protect the ball, is tough and has evolved into a team that doesnt back down or fold. Maybe their ski team brothers and sisters inspired them with the phenominal path to their own national title.

THe BUffs will be dancing and it wont be in Dayton for the play in games. Im thinking 5 or 6 seed if we win tonight but no play in game in any event. Still lots left to play for, for Tristin, KJ, Javon, Luke Eddie and the rest of the gang. Hopefully Cody can shake the rust off by next week. If the lottery pick player shows up we could have something special.

Looks like an agreement has been reached for the CFP

starting in 2026. All the conferences but the SEC have voted yes, but they are expected to do that tomorrow.

"The contract is expected to include a definitive “look-in” provision in 2028, where revenue distribution and format can be re-evaluated. The look-in provision can be triggered earlier by any conference realignment."

"The difference in distribution between the two sets of conferences — SEC/Big Ten and ACC/Big 12 — could exceed $300 million. The Power Two stand to earn a combined figure that should eclipse $700 million, far more than the ACC and Big 12’s number of around $400 million. Roughly $115 million is slotted for the Group of Five.

No school’s revenue will decrease as the CFP is expected to earn three times the amount it did in the four-team version. Major conference schools currently receive about $6 million in distribution from the CFP. The SEC and Big Ten schools will see their annual distribution triple if not quadruple into the low $20 million range. The Big 12 and ACC are set to see a doubling of their previous amounts. Notre Dame is expected to receive its own annual distribution that is expected to increase significantly from its current distribution."

"The concept of the Big Ten and SEC holding exclusive rights over the two first-round byes has received enough pushback that it has been tabled, as Yahoo Sports reported Friday."

Notes from your truly on the money, which is just the CFP money from ESPN or whomever ends up with the TC):

This money does not include the money schools get that in the CFP.

The SEC only has 16 schools, but the Big 10 has 18, so the amount per school would not be exactly this, but 34/$700 is $20.58 million per school/year.

The Big 12 and ACC have 33 schools total so that is $12.9 million per school/year.

There are 68 G5 schools so their cut is $1.69 million each per year.

In the past some money was sent down to D1AA, not sure if that will happen.

Notre Dames cut is unknown. They get $6 million a year now.

A couple non-game related things I noticed in the conf. tourneys

1. Not only is the Las Vegas Metro area hosting the most tourneys Big West, Mountain West, PAC 12, WAC and WCC. But they also had the first four conferences listed playing games all at the same time many nights and those first four will have their title games played today.

2. Hercules Tires seems to be the title sponsor or major sponsor of the most tourneys. I did not count, but I have seen their logo on the floor or signage on many of the non-Power 6 tourneys.

Game Thread: Colorado vs Washington State

Alright! What a day so far. Buffs taking on Wazzu in the Pac-12 semis tonight in Vegas. Teams split the season series 1-1, both teams winning at home. Winner will take on Oregon in the final tomorrow after the Ducks knocked off Arizona thanks to a crazy second half just a few minutes ago.

Good day on the bubble for CU overall, with St. John's, Pitt and Ohio State losing and FAU hanging on in the AAC. Still keeping an eye on this Providence comeback and the UVA-NC State game around the bubble as well. Bottom line: win tonight and CU is in a great spot. Will post starters when I get them shortly.

Game Thread: Colorado WBB vs Washington State

Senior day for the women today! Buffs looking to pick up the season sweep of Washington State today and close the regular season on a high note. Jaylyn Sherrod is warming up in a protective mask after taking a shot to the face and missing most of the second half on Thursday night. Buffs still in play for the 4 seed and a bye in the Pac-12 Tourney as well... its a long shot, but a win and some help elsewhere could do the trick (although a Wednesday game against Oregon may not be the worst thing for them)

Regular starters for CU:
Jaylyn Sherrod
Maddie Nolan
Frida Formann
Aaronette Vonleh
Quay Miller

For Wazzu:
Tara Wallack
Eleonora Villa
Astera Tuhina
Beyonce Bea
Bella Murekatete

Seniors that will be honored postgame:
Jaylyn Sherrod
Quay Miller
Tameiya Sadler
Charlotte Whittaker
Sophie Gerber
Maddie Nolan

Tonight’s Game

How is everyone feeling about tonight’s game? Late start will be a problem for me with an early wake up just to make it to work tomorrow. It seems like every game has been a must win the last few weeks. We should be ready. Wish ASU had given Utah more of a game last night. I assume Cody off the bench. Seems like TDS has found it the last few games. We’ll need a big game from him. KJ’s shooting has been a little off lately probably due to logging 40 minutes every night. Hope rest helps
