woulda coulda shoulda

Buffs fell short of my minimum acceptable performance having not made the sweet 16. If you had told me going in that we outrebounded the Eagles and had the same number of Turnovers i would have assumed we would win. However, the poor shooting on WIDE OPEN 3s and the complete inability to stop Kolek were too much to overcome. Too bad because that was our game to lose.

That being said HCTB had another year where you cant fire him (ADRG will never fire him anyway) but you leave feeling completely unsatified. I like many things about HCTB but if you define making it the the final 4 or winning a natty, as satisfaction i dont think he gets us to the promised land. To me we have had a program and support required to get a natty but going fwd with collectives and NIL running wild, we may have missed our window of opportunity unless we can find a Phil Knight to sponsor us.

I'll have to lower my expectations.

Rick George was named the Athletic Director of the Year

University of Colorado Athletic Director Rick George was named the Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the association announced Wednesday.

“NACDA is honored to continue the tradition of the Athletics Director of the Year Award and recognize a new class of individuals for 2023-24,” NACDA CEO Pat Manak said. “As an Association it is part of our mission to develop tomorrow’s leaders led by today’s decision makers, which is why it is so fitting that 21 of the 28 recipients of the ADOY award this year are first-time winners.”

George was named the sixth athletic director in CU history in 2013, his second stint in Boulder, returning 23 years after he played a role in the school’s first and only national championship in football.

Well deserved award for Rick George!

Marquette

Currently a 3.5 point favorite against the Buffs. They win games by dominating the turnover margin. Tyler Kolek, the heart of the team is fully back from his oblique injury. Kam Jones, hard to guard, scored 28 against Western Kentucky. The Golden Eagles have wins this year over Illinois, UCLA, KU, Texas, Creighton, Providence (twice), and Nova (three times.) They roared back from being behind W. Kentucky with a 51-26 second half. Quite a handful.

OT - My Cancer Update #50

Hello Beloved Buff Friends and Supporters,

Wow, can you believe it? It's my 50th GFM update! I can't thank you enough for standing by me through thick and thin. It's like being on a rollercoaster ride, but with your unwavering support, it makes the loops and twists a bit more bearable!

So, let me regale you with the latest episode of "The Adventures of Craig and the Merry Go Round of Medical Issues." Strap yourselves in!
Last Monday was another whirlwind of scans and infusions at ATWFH (Adventures That Would Frighten Hercules). Everything started off with a bit of a hydration hiccup – apparently, I needed a "BIG BAG" because, you know, I'm just that special. They even checked my vitals, probably to make sure I was still as charming as ever, before starting the infusion. All seemed well until those pesky lab reports came back with a not-so-happy message from my kidneys. They're throwing a tantrum with high Creatinine and BUN levels and a CO2 level that's decided to go AWOL. Oh kidneys, why you gotta be like that?

Enter Dr. P, my superhero oncologist, who swooped in with marching orders for more blood work, STAT! Next morning, I was back in the hot seat, or rather, the phlebotomist's chair, for round two of bloodletting. Five vials later, they had what they needed – hopefully not all of my life force!

But fear not, my friends, for amidst the chaos, there were moments of solace and spiritual relief. My faithful chaplain performed the sacred sacrament of unction, anointing me with healing oils. I swear I felt lighter afterward – either that or it was the weight of all those vials of blood finally off my shoulders!

Then it was off to see my cardiologist who decided to throw a Renal Scan, Echocardiogram, and more blood work into the mix, topped with an urgent referral to the Nephrologist. Can't say I'm not getting the full medical buffet treatment!
Now for the silver lining in this cloud of medical drama – after four blood tests, the Creatinine and BUN levels are reluctantly inching downward, though still not quite hitting the "normal" mark. I've been given strict orders to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – which, for someone who's never been a water bottle aficionado, is quite the challenge.

Looking ahead, I'm gearing up to meet the Nephrologist next week, undoubtedly with more tests on the horizon. But hey, let's keep the faith and the positive vibes flowing!

On a more serious note, while dialysis isn't on the immediate agenda, kidney issues are no joke. They're like the unsung heroes of our bodies, filtering out the gunk so the rest of the team can function properly. So, if you could spare an "atta boy" thumbs up and a sprinkle of healing prayers, I'd be forever grateful.

And for those feeling extra generous, the “DONATE” link is just a click away. Every little bit helps as I navigate this unexpected twist in the adventure. Click here https://gofund.me/d3d433d8

With heartfelt thanks and a kidney-shaped balloon of gratitude, Go Buffs!
Craig (NCBuff)

*********First Round Thru/Fri discussion Thread**********

I have the next two days off like I have done for over 30 years. Will have all 4 games in each window on my large monitor and then rotate thru the games on my TV. Until about 5 years ago I had to a sports bar, but do not miss sitting on a bar stool for two straight days. The only thing I miss is when a game was close late and hearing the reaction of everyone.

Taking these two days off is my version of spring break.

I am in three pools including the one I run in my office. I will not look at my brackets until the end of each weekend. I do not want to enjoy the games as there are and the teams as neutral as I can so I can enjoy a story line or a team I found I enjoy watching.
