Cormani McClain Back In News

Not to beat a dead horse on a former Buff, but it sounds like Cormani is having similar issues at UF. I never really blamed Prime et al for his departure because he seemed to have some issues . . . seems to be following the same path at UF (also, I didn't realize he was a Preferred Walk-On for UF . . . kinda crazy going from #1 CB HS recruit to a PWO in a year.

According to Coach Prime - Trevor Woods = Brain Urlacher

That's a tough comp to live up to.

What is interesting is that in college Urlacher played a hybrid LB/Free Safety in a 3-3-5 alignment. LOL - with Travis Hunter playing inside in the slot coverage and Woods running to the football from the LB spot - I'd say the Buffs are not going to let anyone beat them with slant passes every again.

I think - Urlacher at 4.59 and with 27 reps in the 225lbs press - is faster and stronger than Trevor Woods is that last time I saw Woods play. I do think it is exciting to think Woods will be turned loose to make plays - he is one of those who has a "nose" for the football and makes big plays at big moments.

I think this tidbit is a good clue to what the defense will be like.

OT: seeking insights about CU's trademark requirements.

I've been spending some time on the CU trademark office website understanding what they're use requirements are. Key phrase:

What Qualifies As A Trademark?
Any mark, logo, symbol, nickname, letter(s), word(s) or combination of these that can be associated with the University of Colorado qualifies as a trademark.

I note that they do not include color combinations in the above statement. I also know that there are in total about 30 colleges and high schools that use either the phrase buffaloes or buffs, including several that have the colors black and gold.

I'm curious if people think the latter relates to the former, in that perhaps enforcement action requires a tie to Colorado, and that simply using non trademarked phrases such as Buffs with black and gold in not enough for a legitimate complaint...thoughts?

PAC 12 media day, well more a happy hour.

LAS VEGAS — The Pac-12 Conference served alcoholic beverages in a meeting room on Wednesday night at Bellagio. As the presentation started, Commissioner Teresa Gould took the microphone and cracked the first joke, announcing that “if anyone has earned the right to drink… it’s the Pac-12.”

— Organizers positioned the event on Wednesday evening, directly between the Big 12 and Mountain West Football Media Days in Las Vegas. I’d lobbied for the event to take place in downtown Portland, where the conference got its start 109 years ago. I’d been told the Pac-12 was aiming for a ‘cocktail hour’ vibe. I was skeptical it would work. But I surveyed the room as the main presentation started after 6 p.m. and saw media members from a variety of national publications that cover major college football.

Big 12 Media Days

Our staff is at Big 12 Media Day in Las Vegas, and we will have a ton of coverage from today. Deion Sanders spoke with reporters for about 15 minutes and the players will have an opportunity to speak a little later on. Here's a quick overview of some of what Sanders had to say about the Buffs a few weeks out from the start of training camp.
