Craig and Nikki open for questions (Round 2)

Hello everyone! It's been a minute (since the Sanders hire) Craig and I opened up for questions. Let's us know about any inquires (football, basketball, anything) you may have in this thread and we'll be answering some here in this chat and in another roundtable.

Also an update from me, I have a recruiting analysis piece on the way looking all of Sanders' new additions, specifically which position groups really loaded up during the past month and a half. Hope everyone is having a fun Friday. I'm looking forward to watching the 49ers take on the Seahawks tomorrow in the wild card game 😁

Official Game Thread: CU vs No. 7 UCLA

Will tonight be another miraculous ranked win? Buffs take on No. 7 UCLA tonight after coming off a close loss against USC.

Looking forward to see if Lovering can maintain his momentum, but ultimately this win is in the hands of Simpson and da Silva’s production.

Defensively, UCLA allows a league-low 60.1 points per game. Buffs are averaging 74.1 ppg (third in the P12) while UCLA is averaging 77.2 ppg (second in the P12)

Easy transition for me as the 49ers game just ended on FOX and the Buffs are up next also on FOX. Go Niners, all hail Brock Purdy! Who just saw the Coach Prime cameo?

This evening starters:
Lawson Lovering
KJ Simpson
J'Vonne Hadley
Tristan da Silva
Nique Clifford

CU WBB on a roll with back-to-back wins against top-15 teams

Frida Formann found her rhythm once again Friday night, posting back-to-back game-highs in points to help the Colorado women's basketball team to back-to-back upsets against ranked opponents.

More on the big win:

Kevin Warren is a doosh...

Totally agree with John Canzano regarding this fat fvck:
Earlier in the two-day event, Warren declared: “We’re in a time of change. I think there’s two types of people in the world: They look at change as a problem, or they look at it as an opportunity. I’m one of those people that, when change occurs, I’m excited about it.”

His words? Her words? Hard to tell these days. They were said nonetheless. Decide for yourself if you love Warren for dreaming big or loathe him for trying to make college sports look more like the pros. I happen to think Warren left the college football world richer, but worse off, then he found it.

ADRG on Realignment

REALIGNMENT: Colorado AD Rick George spoke in a wide-ranging interview on “Canzano & Wilner: The Podcast” this week. The interview is worth your time. He had some strong comments on realignment and the unity of the 10 remaining members of the conference.

On whether Colorado ever spoke with the Big 12:

“The Four Corners have not talked to the Big 12 — at least this corner hasn’t. In our room, and I talk about our AD room, I think there’s a lot of commonality amongst the ADs in the room. We’re confident with the right media deal that we become a very attractive conference.”

On how expansion of the College Football Playoff factors in realignment thinking:

“Why would you want to be in a conference where there’s 16 to 18, when you can be in a conference that is 10 to 12? Your opportunity, particularly when the top six-rated conferences have automatic bids and the top-four have automatic byes, why would you leave?”

Mandel: Pros and cons of a Pac-12 media rights deal almost exclusively with Amazon

Good article on the current state of the media rights agreement. I particularly like this tidbit:

Pro: No more 10:30 p.m. ET kickoffs?

Fans on the West Coast hate night games. Coaches do, too, both because they get home in the middle of the night from away games and because they know most of the East Coast isn’t watching them. Former Stanford coach David Shaw believed 10:30 p.m. kicks cost Christian McCaffrey the 2015 Heisman.

There’s no conceivable reason Amazon would need to show games late at night, because there are no “windows” in streaming, and they could probably announce kickoff times further in advance. It’s long been believed ESPN would want to keep its Pac-12 After Dark package because those games do get good ratings (they averaged 1.62 million viewers this season), but not if ESPN isn’t willing to pay a premium for them.

S&C Coach

DO we have one of these yet? We need one of those to be comin real bad. Here's a vote out of left field if we dont have one - Adrian Williams with Peloton. THat dude would turn the weight room upside down and train us some athletes. They cant be paying him too much and COach Prime can get him an NIL deal.

Justin Scott is a five-star prospect currently ranked No. 11 overall in the Rivals 2024 rankings, and over the weekend he narrowed his focus to eight schools. Colorado is joined by USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Miami, Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan on the list. The Chicago-based junior spent some time talking with Rivals' Clint Cosgrove about his new list and you can watch that interview above.

About the Buffs, he says: "Definitely with them just rebuilding the whole program there's an opportunity to come in and make an impact. I really think that rebuild is not gonna happen immediately. I feel like it's really gonna start with my class. ... So, I just see a whole bunch of opportunity there."

TCU vs. BYU

On a recent podcast it was said that BYU will be TCU's main rival in the Big 12. Turns out there is a lot of bad blood between them from their days in the Mountain West Conference.

In the same podcast the speculation was on Pac 12 expansion although from a different prospective. Academics are very important and nearly all the schools vying for membership are Tier 2 research universities. Rice being the lone exception. The podcaster felt that it will be SDSU and UNLV. Regardless, he continued, none of the expansion candidates can be worse than the current lowest ranked school and that would be Washington State. LOL.

Official Game Thread: CU vs USC

Buffs (11-6) on a bit of a hot streak after holding Oregon and OSU under a combined 83 points, but as we've seen on road trips, games can get precarious. USC is 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the Pac-12. The Trojans have lost their last two on the road, 81-71 against WSU and 60-58 UCLA. At home USC has been solid going 7-1 at the Galen Center.

Guys on USC that'll be the difference makers tonight are senior Boogie Ellis (15.7 points per game), fifth-year senior Drew Peterson (13.7 ppg), also leads the Trojans in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and assists (5.1 apg), and junior forward Joshua Morgan leads the Pac-12 in blocks at 2.7.

Buffs lead this series 16-8 and tonight will be a definitive game to get the CU back in conference play.

Check out what’s in store for the PAC 12

From John Wilner's Crystal Ball:

Business affairs: Big bet on gambling

As part of a sweeping media rights deal, the Pac-12 will agree to sell its statistical data to a sports gambling company.

Legalized wagering is a massive untapped revenue stream for college conferences, but not immediately. The jackpot is years away, when technology allows mass distributors of live sports to provide real-time wagering options on the big screen in your living room. (Every type of proposition bet will be a mere click away between plays.)

The Pac-12’s deal will be the first of its kind for a major conference and hint at the riches to come for everyone. But the short-term revenue will be in the low seven figures for each school.

Season-high 22 turnovers doom Buffs in loss to USC

An analysis of last night's loss to USC:

“When you get nine shots blocked and you turn it over 22 times, you’re not going to beat anybody in the Pac-12. I don’t care who you’re playing," Boyle said.
