Spring preview: Jordyn Tyson, Jimmy Horn Jr. headline improved WR group

Our spring preview series continues with a look at what should be one of the more interesting position groups this season for the Buffs, if only because of the significant step up a quarterback: wide receiver

Good PAC 12 stuff …

From John Canzano:
• There’s a possibility that the Pac-12 could offer larger shares of the postseason payouts to those who earn them. The Big Ten and SEC split the revenue from the CFP and NCAA Tournament equally among all members. There’s been some discussion among Pac-12 members about making those payouts merit-based with larger shares given to the programs that make the postseason. Keep an eye on that. Could be a way to keep those who invest more happier.

• The Trojans and Bruins officially depart for the Big Ten Conference on June 30, 2024. If the Pac-12 closes on a sale of the Pac-12 Networks prior to that date, the Trojans and Bruins would each receive 1/12 of the proceeds. On July 1, however, USC and UCLA relinquish their rights.

• I suspect the remaining 10 conference members would vote to make any sale or deal involving the Pac-12 Networks “effective July 1, 2024.”

Pac-12 media rights: How sports gambling and the sale of statistics could fuel revenue growth

... One component hasn’t changed an iota: The potential impact of gambling in general, and the sale of statistical data specifically, on college sports.

“Data is part of media rights, and media rights is one of the issues at the top of our agenda,” Kliavkoff said last year. “We will certainly discuss data rights as part of that package.”

A few days later, the Pac-12 partnered with Tempus Ex Machina, a data technology company based in San Francisco. The agreement created a foundation from which the conference could sell its data and statistics to media, gaming or technology companies.

“This is all designed to be ready for our media rights negotiations,” former Pac-12 Networks president Mark Shuken explained at the time. “We’re trying to get ahead of the future in terms of the fan experience and products and our ability to monetize our data.”

Colorado survives first Pac-12 Tournament test beating Washington, 74-68

Hard fought battle from the Buffs today. Really great to see Hammond play with such poise and accuracy. He is exceeding expectations and the Buffs are all stepping up in a time of need. More on tonight's game:
