In this ESPN article courtesy of the NEWSTAND (Thanks @NCBuff !) ADRG provides some clarification on the rules regarding scholarships and roster cuts which may lessen some readers concerns about the ability of cut players to continue their education. Basically, there is a NCAA rule that provides that a new HC can cut a player but the school must continue to pay for the kid's education if he decides to remain at the school, as long as the player is not involved with the team at all. Those former players do not count toward scholarship limits even though they essentially remain on scholarship. He states that 4 players cut by HCDS have elected to remain at CU and separate from the team yet retain their scholarship. He did not specify which players.
Interestingly, ADRG also states that he expects the Buffs to go into the fall season with 67 scholarship players (as opposed to the 85 max ). I don't know if the NCAA "Aid after Departing Head Coach" rule is going to affect the decisions on how many active player scholarships to utilize, though I suppose it is at least conceivable as an overall $$ consideration. Point is that at least ADRG doesn't seem concerned about having a "full" roster of 85 scholarship players this season.
