Tad Boyle isn’t going to be fired, it just won’t happen. His history at CU is too strong, and his $10 million buyout too prohibitive. However, he may choose to leave on his own, or a departure may be negotiated. Tad doesn’t seem all that happy coaching in NIL and PortalWorld.

So, who would his likely replacement be? That is, if a certain lazy Athletic Director doesn’t simply promote Mike Rohn. Here are some possibilities. Chime in with who you think would be the best for CU, or if there are other candidates you’d recommend:

--Richard Pitino: Age 42, has New Mexico at 16-4, leading the MWC at 9-1. Didn’t have spectacular years at Minnesota, but now seems to have come into his own.
--Chauncey Billups: Age 48, Buff legend, NBA great, with a national profile. Hasn’t had success coaching at Portland, and this is likely his last year there.
--Danny Manning: Age 58, a basketball great at KU and in the NBA. Convenient hire, already on staff. Did not have strong winning seasons at Wake Forest or Maryland.
--Niko Medved: Winning coach at both CSU (currently 13-7, 7-2 in the MWC) and Furman, with two NCAA tourneys in the past three years. Age 51, considered to be a good basketball mind.
--Russell Turner: UC Irvine coach, age 54. After two early losing seasons, he’s had winning records for thirteen straight years. He has seven regular season Big West championships.
--Brian Wardle: Head coach at Bradley for 10 years, age 45. Currently the Braves are 18-3 (9-1 in conference) in the Missouri Valley. The last three years his teams have had 65 wins, 25 losses.
