Inside linebackers coach Mark Smith has certainly been an active guy on the recruiting trail since joining the Buffs, especially in putting his Texas high school coaching and administrative roots to good use as a Dallas/Ft. Worth area recruiter.

He'll be a guy that you often see helping to facilitate offers to wide receivers or defensive backs in the area, on behalf of Darrin Chiaverini and Demetrice Martin.

But in terms of recruiting his own position, Braydon Brus out of Glendora, Calif. comes to mind as a primary target.

Smith picked up from Tyson Summers in recruiting Brus, a prospect whose first D1 offer came from CU back in May of 2020.

Now, Brus has a dozen-plus offers and summer OVs set up at Colorado, Northwestern, Cal and Boise State.

Below, Brus goes into interesting detail on how the Buffs have been recruiting him and how he's expected to fit into Colorado's defense.

He's keeping an open mind with all the programs recruiting him but it seems pretty evident that CU occupies a place of prominence among the suitors vying for his services.

He could very well turn out to be a prospect Smith reels in. In terms of inside linebackers Colorado is recruiting from the high school level for 2022, Brus I'd say is at the top of the boards.
