I was at the scrimmage yesterday and had a blast! The observations by many are right in line with what I saw.
I wanted to add a couple of non football comments…
First, the players were having fun and you could tell. I can't really comment on how the team chemistry was before but what I saw was very positive. One point was we were down on the field when the d-line was running and there was one guy dogging bad (i think it was blake robbins) he was a full lap behind everyone after they finished… guys were cheering him on and then solis busted his arse and ran out to meet him and run in with him. That shows me some leadership and camaraderie.
We have a very engaged staff and they are very engaging! Leavitt is a stud and HCMM has a presence. I really want to see these guys be successful here.
Lastly, we have some great young men on the team. I know this isn't a choir and I'm sure they may act differently on the hill on saturday nights but they were great at the scrimmage! Rippy (who is unfortunately in the dog house) was talking to both my boys (8 & 10) and gave one of them his uncommon bracelet. He later posed for a picture and let my son hold his helmet… he was polite and appreciative! Same with Grant Watanabe… he gave us his bracelet with a smile and hi five… and so did Umu! All the players were great to meet and seemed genuinely happy to be there and over all excited!
My boys have always been fans but now they a HUGE fans!!
Go Buffs!!!
