Last year:
- Atonza Vonghor - Gone before he ever enrolled/started.
- Jack Lamb - Medically retired. Had 1 great/fortunate play for a scoop and score. 21 tackles in 10 games with 2 QB pressures. Credited with 4 tackles against Oregon and a forced fumble. 3 tackles and the scoop and score against Washington.
- Blayne Toll - Showed off his big arms, had 3 tackles in 4 games, then transferred to Arkansas State preserving his eligibility as a frosh.
- JT Shrout - Likely starting QB, then injured in fall camp. Never played.
- Max Wray - Started 1 game, played in 4, 95 total plays. Struggled for the most part.
- Noah Fenske - Played in 2 games with 1 inauspicious start. Really struggled in 1st start looking very much like a true freshman.
- Robert Barnes - 44 tackles with 3 for loss, 5 3DS, 2 PBUs and a pick. Played well in coverage but struggled at times tackling in the box which was the dossier on him. Started the last 5 games and improved substantially on the season. 34 tackles, a fumble recovery, a pick, 4 3DS in those last 5 games. Showed great promise down the stretch as a potential star.

Out of the 7 transfers we brought in/attempted to bring in, only 2 played significantly (Barnes and Lamb). Only 1 was a major difference maker (Barnes). Only 3 of the 7 are still on the team for 2022. All 3 expected to start. By the looks of things, one can expect a 50% success rate on transfers. It seems years past had something similar (don't have the hard #s, just by memory). I'm not including JUCOs here, just transfers from other DI schools as scholarship enrollees.

CU has 5 this year thus far: Ramon Jefferson, Tommy Brown, RJ Sneed, Chance Main, Maddox Kopp. CU is sure to add 1 more at least. Tough to look at the list and say 2 to 3 of the above 5 likely won't pan out, but that's the reality.
