A few recruiting notes to chew on Monday..
- The Buffs haven't had a new commitment since late-July, but that's in large part due to Colorado having 16 commitments (only leaving a few spots left) and August was a dead period, so there wasn't much happening.
- With the new early signing period happening in December, the recruiting calendar basically gets pushed up. Colorado will start hosting official visitors soon. I'm told by a well placed source that DE Tava Finau has set his official visit when Colorado takes on Northern Colorado on September 16. He is the Buffs to lose at this point. You might ask - why bring in a recruit for a game against a less than stellar opponent? It's really just a matter of logistics and what works best for when the recruits can come in to get the best quality of a visit.
- In case you missed it... On Friday, I'm pretty sure I broke the news that Tony Brown enrolled at Colorado last week. I looked around and hadn't seen it reported elsewhere - not that it matters though. He was going to enroll next January, but now he's in for the fall. He'll redshirt and be a redshirt junior in 2018.
- The UW-CU weekend is shaping up to be a good recruiting weekend for the Buffs. As of right now, Texas A&M defensive tackle commit Dominic Livingston is set to officially visit that weekend. The Buffs are also looking into bring in commits Dylan Thomas, Josh Jynes, and maybe Frank Fillip that weekend.
- CU QB commit Blake Stenstrom didn't play on Friday night, but I'm hearing that he could be back as soon as this Friday. His injury was not as serious as it was made out to be - it was mostly precautionary. A source feels pretty confident that Stenstrom will reclaim his job as starting quarterback for Valor when he returns.
- Former Ole Miss defensive tackle commit Israel Antwine is currently set to officially visit Colorado for the Arizona game. He visited for the BBQ over the summer.
- I'll have a list of recruits that are visiting for the TXST game later this week. It should mostly just be in-state guys.
