. . . And today was one of those games.

With a senior QB and our receivers, scoring 35 should be a given. Yes, Montez was fine.

But he needed to be great. If Khalil Tate on 1 leg can throw for 400, no excuses for our guy not to. But today we got average Montez, and that’s not good enough. Yup, Arias dropped a sure TD, the play calling near the goal line was uh, “curious”, and the 3rd and 4 call at the end was borderline incompetent . But Montez needed to put that team on his back and be great. Instead, he runs out of bounds short of a 1st down instead of putting his head down.

No, Montez didn’t lose the game. But he didn’t win it either. That’s the problem.

The defense was about what we could expect with the guys we had out there. They’re in physical shambles. Today was the day to win a shootout.

And we ended up shooting blanks.
