I don't usually post, but thought it would be good to provide some insight from my experiences regarding Ski's decision that I find troubling and might shed some prospective on CU basketball this year. However people want to spin Ski's decision it is a massive violation of the basketball locker room, which is why Tad has reacted the way he has IMO. A basketball locker room is a very tight nit, especially when it comes to the top 8-9 players. The best way I can describe it for football guys is the relationship on the OL from what I understand. With the exception of pro basketball, players that are part of the rotation develop a strong bond for life due to their time spent together and work they put in together.
I want to be clear that Ski's decision to not play is not the issue; it's how he did it that speaks volumes. If he didn't want to play that is totally understandable, but I would expect him to continue practicing with the team even if limited due to the hip, help coach the young guys, and dress with team / cheer from the bench. He should do this due to his love for his teammates and position as a senior leader on the team. I don't know a person I have played ball with that wouldn't do this for his teammates and take great pride in helping his teammates take the next step.
These actions confirm some of my thoughts about ski as a player, issues within team, and concerns that are arising with Tad from an X and O perspective and now control of team. I love Tad, but I think a good way to look at things it to measure yourself against the best. Coach K dismissed a very productive player mid-season that is probably better than anyone on CU solely due to his attitude and inability to play within the team concept, and did this with team that could be in the final 4.
Having said all that, I really like Tad and think we have some great pieces next year. Now I will read everyone kill a second time poster.
