Ran a few numbers and interestingly enough, this past Saturday vs. WSU, Derrion Rakestraw's grade of 77.6 was the highest such grade posted by a Colorado DB in all of 2019.

Note: Chris Miller did score an 89.9 vs. Nebraska but I'm discounting that because he played only 15 snaps. Rake was on the field for all of WSU's 75 offensive snaps, joining K.J. Trujillo and Mark Perry as the only Buffaloes defenders to see every snap.

Rakestraw earned a 86.5 grade strictly in coverage, also a team-high.

Defensive back PFF grade leaders by week:

vs. Oregon — Delrick Abrams: 77.6 (75 snaps played)
vs. Zona — Delrick Abrams 63.5 (73 snaps played)
vs. ASU: Derrion Rakestraw 74.8 (66 snaps played)
vs. Air Force: Davion Taylor 70.1 (58 snaps played)
vs. Nebraska: Davion Taylor 76.5 (70 snaps played)
vs. CSU: Mikial Onu 76.0 (73 snaps played)

K.J. Trujillo was definitely picked on, as we've noted. Targeted 9 times, of which enemy WRs caught six balls for 69 yards and two TDs.

Onu was in direct coverage six times, of which three passes were caught, most notably the 44-yard TD to Brandon Arconado, WSU's longest pass play of the night.

Abrams gave up six catches on the 10 times a ball was thrown to the WR he was covering, giving up a team-high 71 yards of receiving.

Guess it's just nice knowing that in the immediate aftermath of Maddox transferring, his replacement, who stepped up bigtime to start during the former's injury, registers his best game and the best game (in terms of PFF) of anyone in the secondary this season.

Keep it up Rake, we're gonna need it.
