Hoping someone can help me square this topic. I've had numerous conversations with other CFB fans and I can't help but wonder how Penn State rose from the ashes to national prominence again. They had everything going against them, short of the death penalty, and were still able to recruit at an elite level.
The answer could be as simple as lights out recruiting, but it also could counter any preconceived ideas that we have to win in order to recruit top notch players. A program that was a national disgrace, lost bowl eligibility and scholarships, and lacked coaching continuity now has a Heisman front runner and I would love to know the formula.
