Granted, Luton got rid of the ball quicker than Colletto and also looked off receivers (at first), but the lack of pass rush (knocked him down just once and sacked him just once) is what got OSU 38 points in 21 minutes.

If we had a pass rush and forced them to rush throws, the struggling DBs wouldn't have been exposed. We probably win 34-17 and we would be sitting here cursing that we didn't blow them out badly enough, but still happy to be bowling. We would be wondering if we could honestly beat Utah or WSU after such a showing and whether the newfound offense of Zona or the newfound defense of Cal would be beatable on the road. We would have a lot of worries, but still hope after getting bowl eligible and a shot at winning the division if we won out.

Everything was lost without the pass rush. Yeah the DBs were terrible, but the pass rush was almost as bad.

And the result: 300 yards to a QB who hasn't played much in weeks in just 1 half of football. Talk about improbable. Would he have thrown for 600 yards? Really? Jake Luton? By far the best game of his career and certainly the highest QB rating he's ever had (with more than 2 passes). Even an average QB can look like a Heisman superstar candidate without a pass rush.
