In two weeks I've got a spinal fusion where they're going to fuse L4 L5 and S1. It has to be done because at age 57 I'm too gimpy and too frail to be effective in my life (and too young to accept that as reality).

I hate the thought of it because my Odyssey with staph infection over the last 3 years. And I'm not looking forward to the recovery.

Has anyone had this surgery and what was your experience? I basically asked the same question back in 2023 as I was preparing for a fusion at c3 c4. That was a very profitable surgery because it gave me a high level of function back in my hands, that I had previously lost. I'm hoping this surgery will help me ultimately get back to hiking and skiing. Right now I walk and have the posture of an 80-year-old man though.
