I just had a B17 fly over the house, and it was only about 2,000' off the deck. Damn is that an impressive sound and visual. There must be an air show in town. My dad co-piloted one, until he had a leg nearly blown off by flak. Then he flew a C-47 over the Hump (Himalayan Mountains) to China, which was even more dangerous. He never ever talked about it.
Visit Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Museum in Everett, when you are in Seattle. My son and I were there for a fly by with a Spitfire and three Mustangs. Those Rolls Royce Merlin V-12 engines redefine the sound of power with 1,500 horsepower.
