OPENING TIP: Colorado, the top 3-point shooting team in the Pac-12, has made 21 of its last 33 long range attempts at the Coors Events Center, a whopping 63.6 percent from beyond the arc.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN BEARS: California is 14-7 overall and 4-4 in the Pac-12 after dropping a 73-64 decision at Utah on Wednesday. The Bears have been perfect at home during league play, but have lost all four road contests. Cal averages 74.9 points while shooting 47 percent from the field. The Bears boast the Pac-12’s top scoring and field goal percentage defense allowing their opponents 66.8 points on just 39 percent shooting. California ranks third in the Pac-12 in rebounding margin at plus-6.4 per game.

Freshman forward Jaylen Brown leads the Bears in scoring at 15.5 points per game while grabbing 5.5 rebounds and dishing out a pair of assists per contest. Classmate Ivan Rabb tops Cal in rebounding at 8.5 per game while averaging 12.5 points on 63 percent from the floor. Junior guard Jordan Mathews has a team-best 55 3-point field goals and pitches in 13.2 points an outing. The Bears will be without senior guard Tyrone Wallace and his 15.4 points and 4.5 assists per game as he continues to recover from a hand injury.

Cuonzo Martin is in his second season at California with a record of 32-22. He is in his eighth overall season as a collegiate head coach, sporting a record of 156-104.

THE SERIES: This will be the 27th meeting between Colorado and California with the Bears holding a 14-12 series edge. Cal defeated the Buffs 79-65 in the Pac-12 opener in Berkeley on Jan. 1 and in the process took a 5-4 series lead since CU joined the Pac-12 for the 2011-12 season. Colorado enjoys an 8-2 advantage in games played in Boulder, although the Bears took the last meeting at Coors, a 68-61 final on Feb. 12, 2015.

Tad Boyle is 5-5 against California as a head coach. Cuonzo Martin is 2-0 against Colorado as a head coach.
