As a few of you I'm sure noticed, and as I posted about this morning, interim offensive line coach William Vlachos visited Hattiesburg, MS, a day ago to check in with OL commit Carter Edwards, along with Karl Dorrell.

Right off the bat, if Dorrell were shopping around for new OL coaches, it would strike me as strange that Vlachos would be included on recruiting visits (the expenses for which that Vlachos himself is racking up on the road should also not be discounted) would strike me as strange.

Why incur travel costs for Vlachos if Dorrell was planning to replace him somewhat soon? And also, what would be the point of having him meet an OL recruit if Dorrell considered it a possibility Vlachos would be gone?

On top of Vlachos' visit to Edwards, I have learned he'll also conduct a home visit with Travis Gray this Sunday. But before he does that, he's stopping by Danville, Calif., to visit three-star Cal Berkeley tackle commit Jackson Brown.

Brown, whose pledge to the Bears dates back to August, does not seem to have formally closed the book on his recruitment. Since August, he's picked up offers from Georgia Tech, Mizzou, Miami, USC and Arizona State.

In other words, he's diversified his P5 opportunities big time since committing to Cal.

The Buffaloes are not the only school planning to visit him this week; Brown originally was a Rodrigue target (credit to Mitch Rod — he was on Brown's trail long before many of the other P5 programs who have offered were) and now it would seem Vlachos is trying to keep the relationship going.

Now, let me preface what I'm about to conclude here with this: I say this non-definitively and as a hunch, only.

But when I see the extent to which Vlachos is being immersed on the recruiting trail — both with current commits and a remaining 2022 target — it stands out to me.

What also stands out to me is knowing that within the Colorado OLs room, there is a lot of support for Vlachos. We all saw the turnaround that he oversaw from the time of Rodrigue's last rodeo vs. Cal to Vlachos taking charge ahead of the Oregon game.

While I'd argue that CU's o-line got flat out beat at Utah in the finale, there was definitely some improvement there overall from when Vlachos took over. The OLs themselves liking Vlachos (was not the case with Rodrigue) is also big.

So, with all of that being considered, and knowing that Dorrell understands how important his OC hire is (which also comes with the knowledge that he needs to pony up some big bucks), as of right now, I think there are some intriguing clues present at the moment that could point towards Vlachos staying on at CU.
