After watching the game and sleeping on it, here are my thoughts:

1. I think we just saw what a “bad game” looks like from Shadeur Sanders. he missed Jimmy Horn on a pretty wide-open receiver, screen early in the game, and was just a little bit off all day, at least for him. That being said, he still throws for 360 yards and we almost win. Of course, his numbers were worse in the Oregon game, but he had defensive lineman all over him all day that game.

2. I think Cormani McClain is the real deal. Hopefully he gets his head right. I paid attention, and he plays mostly on the right side of the field. I don’t think they had a single passing play complete on that side of the field in the second half when he was in. I do honestly think he is a shut down corner at this point. Possibly if we get Hunter back, and Hunter on one side of the field and McClain on the other, could be really nice situation.

3. Omarion Miller - geez. What a great game this kid had. I bet he takes a little bit of crap getting rundown on that long one, but turning the corner on the short route and turning it into a 65 game yard gain was amazing. The catch on the 45 yarder (with one hand) was simply amazing too. Also the fourth and five touchdown was awesome, not even sure how that ball got through. The kid has sure hands, and can run, and can jump up and high point catch it. We have a star in the making.

4. Jace Feely, always gonna be nervous about that guy kicking. Apparently he has the leg, but accuracy may be an issue.

5. Defensive line looking a little bit better, may be helped by better secondary play. That being said, we did give up six touchdown passes to the Heisman front runner!

6. Offensive line seemed to do better, even with some guys hurt. Our running game was much better this game, anlbeit against a USC team with known deficits on defense. Weird to think Hankerson is our best option as there’s really no home run threat there, but I guess he consistently shows out in practice and is our most complete package right now. Hoping that McCaskill starts showing out a little bit more.

7. I hope some more freshmen start showing up as well, as I think they are more our future than some of our transfers, especially the older guys who are one and done.

8. I like our chances in most games moving forward except maybe Utah and UDub. All games will be difficult, but we are playing better. We are only game 5 in this experiment of piecing a whole new team - both players and coaches - together on the fly, at a place with a 20 yr losing streak and coming off a 1-11 season that is actually better than it looked (bad losses by 30 pt avg - over 40 pt avg final 4 games of last year)

9. Travis Hunter is him. Even his hoodie says it! 😊

10. Would like to get Dylan Edwards going a bit more. Odd we haven’t seen explosive plays for the past 3 games.

Whatu got??
