Another film review installment here at CUSportsNation.com. I give my thoughts about four plays - 2 good, 2 bad - from CU's 41-30 loss to ASU.

This play was Arizona State's go-ahead touchdown to give them the lead at 34-30, and this was a horrible display of defense. ASU obviously wore Colorado down and there wasn't much effort on this play as you key on a few different guys. First, watch Rick Gamboa on this play; he's the inside linebacker near the top of the screen. ASU's running back runs exactly where Gamboa was lined up, but Gamboa runs to his left and allows ASU's TE to easily block him. Then he jogs downfield to watch the RB get into the end zone. Pretty bad play from Gamboa and I'm sure he's hearing about it in the CU film room. Next up is Nick Fisher, who should have stopped this run for a six yard gain. He was unblocked but went after the RB with a wimpy arm tackle at the 13 yard line, and Laguda came flying in with a missed arm tackle as well. Drew Lewis just sat in his spot after the ball was snapped and allowed the ASU O-lineman to pancake him. The interior defensive linemen for CU were pushed five yards back. This was just a really embarrassing play by a very tired Colorado defense.

ASU's inside linebacker went unblocked but he was too slow to get to Lindsay, who darted into the endzone. Beau Bisharat made the key block to lead PL and Aaron Haigler pulled to clear space for PL. Good straight up blocking by Frazier and Bounds as well. Just a solid goal line run off the left side for a Colorado touchdown. This one isn't rocket science. Just good old school power football.

I shlowed this one down to show the blocking develop. You have to LOVE Haigler's block pulling and laying out the ASU defender. This play also had a pull by RT Josh Kaiser, who didn't have a huge block like Haigler, but he did his job kicking out a defender. A key to this being a scoring play was Jeromy Irwin getting off of his double team with Gerrad Kough and blocking the ASU linebacker at the second level. Textbook blocking and a good cut by PL to get up the field. Final thought: what the heck was George Frazier doing? Lol it looks like he's supposed to block on the backside but he avoids it instead.

Another not so good play by the Colorado defense. You can watch Dante Wigley the whole play, and he never gets his head around to find the ball. Not for a second. Good throw by Wilkins and an excellent play on the ball by Harry for an easy touchdown. Wigley shows promise but the Buffs really missed Isaiah Oliver in this one.
