You'll note that not everyone partook in every single event/drill today, with Nate Landman not running the 40-yard dash being a notable example. Carson Wells was smart to do it all. Solid vertical and 40 time for him. He received a lot of praise following his participation in the Shrine Bowl and given he was snubbed from the NFL Combine, I imagine his numbers today did well to boost his stock overall in the eyes of scouts.
Not exactly sure why Johnson decided to skip so many drills. I'll give him this much — he wasn't even planning on benching today. A scout from the Steelers borderline berated the players at the start of everything when it was announced some guys wouldn't be doing all the drills.
The point (honestly valid) that he made was this: out of CU's players, only Landman went to the Combine this year. So, in his eyes, why did other players feel like they're in a position not to want to show coaches everything they've got? At least from my vantage point, it was then that Johnson said F It and decided to bench. To his credit, he put up two more reps (29) than he did at last year's Pro Day (27).
As for Kutsch, I think he'll quietly position himself into at least some mini camp invites. He said after drills were completed today that his agent had been hearing from one or two teams so far.
Landman I think is a relative lock for a late-round pick. Would be surprised if no one selects him. He did make a point to say that his 20 reps on the bench should illustrate to anyone watching that his shoulder is healed from last season.
Not sure what's in store for Matt Lynch moving forward, but wish him the best, too.
