Colorado has enlisted B.J. Johnson as a new defensive grad assistant.
Johnson is set to help Brett Maxie with the safeties. He played WR at Georgia Southern from 2012-2016 and briefly played with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. Previously, he coached WRs at Savannah State. Somewhat strange to see Johnson, who's coaching/playing history has been on offense with the WRs, now transitioning to safeties.
That said, I suppose a good WR knows how safeties operate and thus would be able to give good insight as to how WRs attack safeties on given routes and whatnot.
In addition to Johnson, Colorado also has Aziz Shittu helping with the d-line and Donovan Williams helping with the o-line, both as G.A.'s.
