A handful of recruiting offers stuck out to me lately, so allow me to relay those below.
1. Blue chip defensive lineman offered by Gerald Chatman:
Gerald Chatman has been a busy man on the recruiting trail of late. He appears to be making good progress with Texas (Cypress Park) defensive tackle Jarra Anderson, the latter of whom recently scheduled an official visit in Boulder for June.
But on a general note, Chatman has been very active in dishing out offers over the last few weeks, with a multitude of 2023 defensive linemen now owning scholarship opportunities via Colorado.
A recent example is New Orleans (St. Augustine) La. tackle Kyran Bourda, a four-star prospect who's received significant SEC attention over the span of his recruitment. Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and others, such as Texas and Nebraska, have offered.
Chatman, of course, has ties to New Orleans. Before being hired at Colorado, he was a defensive line analyst at LSU under Ed Orgeron, and was planning to be retained by Brian Kelly. But earlier this winter, Chatman was hired by Tulane to oversee its d-line, a position he held for under a month before Karl Dorrell brought him to Boulder to do the same.
Thus, it seems only natural that Chatman has retained a presence in the greater New Orleans area, evidenced by his offer to Bourda.
2. Another St. Thomas Aquinas prospect offered:
Yesterday, Rod Chance and the Buffs offered 2023 safety Kimari Robinson out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Anyone who pays attention to CU recruiting will immediately register St. Thomas Aquinas (STA). The ties Colorado's staff has there (Chance is an alum himself) plus the increasing number of Raiders alums headed to Boulder (most notably 2022 RB Anthony Hankerson and 2023 WR Isaiah Hardge) are becoming increasingly tiresome to recount over and over.
That being said, the list of prospects from STA that the Buffs are going after continues to grow.
Robinson has offers from Coastal Carolina, Maryland, Georgia Tech and others. He stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 170 pounds. His teammates, 2023 RB Gemari Sands and 2024 RB Jordan Lyle, also hold CU offers, as does 2023 ATH (and Penn State commit) Conrad Hussey.
3. New Cherry Creek target:
Along the same lines of recruiting STA in Florida, the Buffs already have a very heavy presence at Cherry Creek High School among its numerous 2023 prospects.
Blake Purchase (OLB), Hank Zilinskas (OL), Logan Brantley (OLB/S), Ismael Cisse (WR) — the list of Bruins set to graduate in 2023 that Colorado has offered goes on.
While the Buffs will no doubt look to close on any/all of the aforementioned players, CU's Mark Smith recently offered soon-to-be junior linebacker Angelo Petrides, who made 151 tackles with five picks last year for Cherry Creek.
