Transfer Portal '23-'24 thoughts

Hello fellow Buffs die hards. I don't post or comment often, but enjoy 'most' of y'alls opinions and research and banter.

Now: I'm loving almost all the new transfers so far. More coming this cycle and likely in May, too.

Already 11 in. Aside from Buff's outgoing seniors and the transfers so far, it seems like Prime is expecting a LOT more attrition, right?

Too busy lately, haven't taken time yet to look at how much of our 85 scholarships are filled. Anyone know what kind of numbers we're working with?

Who else do y'all think will transfer out?

Portal closes 01/02 intil May and there will still be some big names transferring when the playoffs and NY6 games are over... I feel like we need to leave some spots open for the 2nd cycle and for the HS recruiting class...

Am I completely wrong for thinking this?

PS: The transfers I'm not sold on are the center from UCONN and the WR Timmons from NC State. Feel like we could have waited for another center? WR? Stacked. I assume they're anticipating Horn to NFL and a few frosh transfers like Hardge or Waseem or onobughe (i probably misspelled that)

The IU and UH o-linemen should provide great depth. Highly likely two are starters immediately. If not 3. But I would love to wait and see if we can get a few more veteran P5 transfers on both sides of the line from some of the top programs.

Have a good weekend, folks. Sko Buffs!

Happy start to bowl season everyone!

Montana vs NDSU

Finished and came in to grab some food and drink. Have Montana vs NDSU on. Go Griz. Love to see them move to the championship.

These playoffs are so much better than meaningless bowl games. If the teams who get left behind the super league get it together they have something to sell at 16 games that would make this time of year waiting for the other playoffs so much better

Transfer addition No. 11 is Liberty DB Preston Hodge

Preston Hodge is the latest portal addition for the Buffs. He's No. 11 on the list this offseason and is another experienced player who racked up 48 tackles and a pair of interceptions this season at Liberty. He has 60 tackles in his two seasons on the field at Liberty to go with 13 passes defensed (10 this season) and a forced fumble. He received an 88.8 coverage grade from PFF this season, which is 11th-best among all FBS cornerbacks.

He does have a redshirt year available but will have just one season of remaining eligibility after transferring to Liberty from Navarro College in Texas — he is a native of Waxahachie, Texas.

Texas A&M, Auburn, West Virginia, Texas Tech and TCU were some of his other offers added before picking CU today.

Might not get the attention the offensive linemen will get, but he's clearly one of the most noteworthy pickups this offseason for the Buffs.

Colorado's 9th and 10th portal commitments come from Kentucky transfers and twin brothers Keaten and Destin Wade. The former four-star prospects had plenty of options out of high school but opted to go with the Wildcats as Destin was recruited as a quarterback by that program. Most other schools viewed him as a defensive back long term.

Destin started the Music City Bowl last year but struggled a bit in his first collegiate appearance throwing two interceptions with 16 completions and 98 yards. He did not make an appearance this year. His family has voiced displeasure with Kentucky this season citing promises that weren't kept by the staff at UK.

Keaten was a member of the Rivals250 as an outside linebacker and has had plenty of success in two seasons in Lexington. He played in all 12 games this season and recorded 35 tackles to go with 3 tackles for loss, a sack and three quarterback hurries.

Though he has never started, Keaten has played in 25 games and has 51 career tackles to go with 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
