I’m excited to announce that we have hired Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders as the 28th full-time head football coach at the University of Colorado.

Coach Prime is a nationally prominent figure who will provide an unprecedented lift to our football program and our university and will instantly make the Colorado Buffaloes a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.

Coach comes to CU Boulder after an incredibly successful three years as head coach at Jackson State, where he went 27-5, won back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference titles earning him back-to-back SWAC Coach of the Year honors, and in 2021 he won the Eddie Robinson Award as the season’s Football Championship Subdivision coach of the year. He is also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame after a 14-year career in the NFL, the College Football Hall of Fame, and spent nine years playing Major League Baseball.

Beyond those impressive accomplishments, Coach is a charismatic motivator whose passion and enthusiasm for his student-athletes will make him a great fit for CU Boulder.

We will officially introduce Coach at a press conference on Sunday, December 4 at 1:30 p.m. You can watch the press conference live on CUBuffs.com or via social media.

I greatly appreciate your continued support of Colorado Athletics and hope you will join me in welcoming Coach Prime to the CU family. Go Buffs!

Sincerely,

Rick George

Dear Ralph,

You have been an amazing supporter of CU athletics and, as we all know, are quite handsome. I digress. I’m excited to announce that we have hired Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders as the 28th full-time head football coach at the University of Colorado.

COMMITMENT: 2024 WR Daijon Calimon headed to CU

2024 California receiver Daijon Calimon has committed to Colorado today becoming the first pledge in the class for the Buffs. Calimon holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State and Nevada. He plays on both sides of the ball, but he shows more promise on offense as a receiver. He has good size and could play either outside or inside depending on what the offense looks like moving forward. This is another Armond Hawkins win as he is a big part of why Calimon committed today. I do think this also has a lot to do with the Deion Sanders rumors and don't think he will be the last recruit who tries to jump on board before the arrival of CU's next head coach.

He's a solid player and someone I'd expect to see more offers come his way by the time the spring arrives. He visited CU back in the spring, and since that time the Buffs have been a big part of his recruitment.

More smoke...special CU regents meeting tomorrow morning regarding Deion Sanders contract.

At this point, this is either a done deal or we are getting punked.

Colorado coaching candidate profile: Ryan Walters

Given the timeline of Colorado's search right now, I'm guessing this will be the last one of these we'll have, but we've got another coaching candidate profile up today: Ryan Walters, former Buff and current Illinois defensive coordinator

I know he's more of a fall-back option and some folks have very strong opinions about him potentially being hired, but given his background and coaching success, he's absolutely worth a long, hard look
