The dead period comes to an end this weekend (Friday) and that means teams can resume hosting high school, junior college and transfer players (who aren't enrolling midyear) once again. There is already one big transfer name on the list, and we'll try and keep this list updated as the weekend approaches. The next three weekends will be open for visits while 16-day span from Jan. 13-28 will be open for coaches to head off campus and make visits to schools and homes of recruits heading into the next signing period in February.

Transfer visitors

• DE Taylor Upshaw (Michigan | 1 season of eligibility) | 2022 stats: 14 games; 12 tackles (5 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception

• RB Micah Bernard (Utah | 2 seasons of eligibility) | 2022 stats: 14 games; 106 carries, 533 yards rushing, 4 rushing touchdowns, 34 catches, 314 yards receiving, 1 receiving touchdown

The fourth-year sophomore from Long Beach, California made six starts in 2022 but also had to deal with a leg injury that held him back from becoming the top guy on the depth chart. He entered the portal shortly after the Rose Bowl and recently visited South Carolina. At this point, South Carolina is no longer expected to be a player, so CU is definitely an option to watch here as he visits this weekend.

• DL Jordan Domineck (Arkansas/Georgia Tech | 1 season of eligibility) | 2022 stats: 13 games; 34 tackles (19 solo), 9.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles

The trenches have become important to the CU staff at this point in the process, and the veteran edge rusher from Arkansas is on the radar for the Buffs. The Lakeland, Florida native started his career at Georgia Tech before making the move to Arkansas where he played in 13 games last season. He didn't make any starts with the Razorbacks after starting 15 games with the Yellowjackets, and now he's looking for a new home to finish out his college career. Despite not being a starter, Domineck put together one of his most productive seasons and finished third in the SEC in sacks. He quickly reversed course within the last couple weeks after initially saying he'd be staying at Arkansas, so there is a strong belief that he will end up with the Buffs.

• WR Xavier Weaver (South Florida | 1 season of eligibility) | 2022 stats: 9 games; 53 catches, 718 yards receiving, 6 receiving touchdowns, 4 punt returns, 36 yards

The Buffs already have one USF receiver in the mix and on campus with Jimmy Horn Jr. joining the team this offseason. Now, one of his Bulls teammates will be taking in Boulder this weekend. Weaver was the most productive pass catcher at USF in the 2022 season, and he led the team in catches, yards and touchdowns. Oklahoma and West Virginia have also offered him and both have continued to make a strong push. Weaver, who is from Orlando, checks in at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds.

This guy has quite the pedigree. If he wasn’t coaching could likely do a lot of things successfully. I’m really curious what this is about and what if any laws he broke. Clearly the police seem to have something they feel incriminates him. If he did something wrong it’s just one more of those cases I’ll never understand about someone who has so much doing something stupid and throwing it away.

Side note: New K-State H/C Jerome Tang is in his first year as a HC after 19 seasons as an AC at Baylor with Scott Drew. 56 years old.
Last march he had two guys on the roster. He hit the Portal hard and got some really good talent, sold them on his vision and now is sitting at 15-2. ocerall and at the top of the B12. Great story.
He was up on the scorers table leading the K-State faithful in cheers.
Oh, he is making $2.1m/year. It's amazing what you cn accomplish by selling yourself and your program if you are good at it.

Sanders and his staff haven't fallen short from recruiting elite talent adding 16 high school recruits, over 20 transfers, a few commits from the 2024 class and a group of PWOs. Some rooms are more crowded than others, but in this short time leading the Buffs, Sanders showed that there is no limit to who Colorado is willing to pursue.

• Colorado will open conference play vs. Oregon at Autzen Stadium (Sept. 23), then turn around and face USC at home the following Saturday. The Buffaloes conference schedule is front-loaded with those two games. They’ll get eyeballs.

Gotta be honest, this is a new name for me. He just entered the transfer portal a few days ago so probably had an idea of where he wanted to go, but Ole Miss sophomore cornerback Kyndrich Breedlove is headed to Colorado as the latest transfer commitment. Still trying to figure out more about his situation but he's played in 10 games over two seasons. However, he only played in one game in 2022 and that was on special teams. He was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, though.

He'll have three years to play two seasons with the Buffs.

Talking to a source directly related to the Colorado staff, five-star 2023 CB Cormani McClain was on campus this weekend and CU now feels good with their chances of landing him. Speaking with McClain at the UA Next practices, his intent then was to sign with Miami as planned. An announcement was planned for today, I am not sure if that is still happening.
