Predicting what CU's conference schedule would look like if they join the Big 12

If CU ends up in the Big 12 (please no) and the Big 12 uses quad scheduling here is an example of CU's for 8 conference schedules thru 2031 (when the Big 12 TV contract ends) will look like. CU will very likely be in the quad with ISU, KSU and KU

2024 (5 road and 4 home):
at Kansas
Kansas State
at Iowa State
Arizona State
at BYU
West Virginia
at Houston
Oklahoma State
at Texas Tech

2025 (5 home and 4 road):
Kansas
at Kansas State
Iowa State
at Arizona State
BYU
at West Virginia
Houston
at Oklahoma State
Texas Tech

2026 (5 road and 4 home):
at Kansas
Kansas State
at Iowa State
Arizona
at Utah
UCF
at Cincinnati
TCU
at Baylor

2027 (5 home and 4 road):
Kansas
at Kansas State
Iowa State
at Arizona
Utah
at UCF
Cincinnati
at TCU
Baylor

2028 (5 road and 4 home):
at Kansas
Kansas State
at Iowa State
Arizona State
at BYU
West Virginia
at Houston
Oklahoma State
at Texas Tech

2029 (5 home and 4 road):
Kansas
at Kansas State
Iowa State
at Arizona State
BYU
at West Virginia
Houston
at Oklahoma State
Texas Tech

2030 (5 road and 4 home):
at Kansas
Kansas State
at Iowa State
Arizona
at Utah
UCF
at Cincinnati
TCU
at Baylor

2031 (5 home and 4 road):
Kansas
at Kansas State
Iowa State
at Arizona
Utah
at UCF
Cincinnati
at TCU
Baylor

Some will find this fun, but my interest in CU football will suffer. Again the above is an example so the pairings against the other quad very well will look different.

CU has Houston and Kansas State on the OOC in this time frame.

What should Colorado men's basketball do with its one open scholarship?

It's gone a little under the radar with everything going on in football, but the men's basketball team has one open scholarship for next season. What kind of skills/qualities should they be targeting? Or do they even need to fill it?

OT: off season topic - sports venues bucket list

What sports venue that you have never been to that you love to go to?

I am not much on going to live games anymore, but there are one place in particular and one from a set of venues in general I like to one day go to.

The top is to go to a game at West Point in the fall when the fall foliage is booming.

A conference game in the SEC would be fun to witness once.

411 on the number of where TV games of the P5 were shown in 2022

The breakdown as follows:
Level/number/%

Network is FOX/CBS/ABC/NBC

Top Cable is ESPN

2nd Level Cable is ESPN2/FS1

3rd Level Cable is ESPNU/ESPNNews/FS2

Conference is ACC, SEC, Big Ten or PAC 12 Networks. For the Big 12 I counted ESPN+ and LHN as they act as the conference networks for the Big 12. For the ACC I also counted the RSN games they have as conference network games. I put the one ND game on Peacock as a conference network.

Not these are only regular season games, Remember that the home team and their conference own the TV rights, so for example CU game at Minnesota last year would be in the numbers for the Big Ten and not the PAC 12.

My source was this: http://lsufootball.net/archives/tvschedule-2022.htm

Maine defensive lineman Khairi Manns has announced his commitment to Colorado after his recent visit to Boulder. The Buffs had been battling Kansas for his pledge but he decides to make the move to CU to finish out his career. Manns has been an impressive player already throughout his college career and heads to Colorado with 108 career tackles (31 solo), 15.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Big Ten taking it in the shorts

Frm the article: On campus, it's a bit more muddled. Big Ten schools have seen potential revenue disappear the past few months from a contract that was announced back in August as being worth an average of nearly $1 billion per year through the 2029 football season. More than $70 million in total is suddenly in flux -- nearly $5 million per school -- and it has left administrators around the league seeking answers and calling for financial accountability.

OT, board is slow. Hero's / GOAT's you've been blessed to watch.

The death of the great Jim Brown this week got me to reminiscing about my all-time sports hero's and the GOAT's I've been lucky enough to watch and enjoy in my lifetime.

Growing up in Birmingham, AL in the mid to late 60's, of course my first love was Bama football, right in the middle of their other great dynasty period under Bear Bryant. Although I don't actually remember Joe Nameth, playing at Alabama, I followed him with the Jets in the old AFL. Similarly, Bart Star of the Packers was also a Bama guy, so he too was one of my early hero's. The first Bama QB I actually got to see play was Kenny "Snake" Stabler and he's still one of my all-time favorites.

As far as baseball, I was a Braves fan and Hammerin Hank Aaron is still one of my all-time sports hero's. By the way, one of my great treasures is my 1954 Topps Aaron rookie card. Also had a lot of interest in Reggie Jackson as he played minor league ball with the Birmingham A's for a short while and I got to go see him play.

Later on, we moved to Texas and I started following the Cowboys, and still do to this day. My ultimate all-time sports hero is Roger Staubach and I admire him to this day in every walk of life.

One of my great sports memories growing up was listening to the great Ali / Frazier / Forman fights on the radio with my Dad. I became a huge Ali fan and followed him his whole carreer.

Thanks for letting me wax sentimental and share.

OT: Nuggets

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts. They just took a punch to the mouth and some good body blows from the Lakers, and ended up pulling it out. This might be their biggest playoff win ever. I’m hoping it gives them the confidence to turn the corner. The role players gained more confidence in the fourth quarter as well. Hoping we can take at least one of two in LA, and close them out.

PAC 12 looking good!

Washington State president Kirk Schulz says WSU athletics will have “temporary freeze on all current & future vacant positions until further review, as well as a pause on non-essential travel, purchases & new professional development” because of “significant decrease in Pac-12 revenue distribution as result of overpayments from one of the conference media partners that must be resolved. Relocation of the Pac‑12 headquarters out of San Francisco exceeded budget projections as well. Additionally, WSU projects that Cougar Athletics exceeded its expenditures for the year due to inadequate documentation of revenues and expenses.”
